wild guess, but did you REBOOT the fs between changes? Changes usually won't take place until you do.

This m-i-g-h-t help...try copying the bulk of the aircraft.cfg for the 747 file that works alright, into your B-52's aircraft.cfg.  Of course the top portion (aircraft name, manufacturer, etc.) will need to stay unchanged.  As this is an AI object, the difference in flight characteristics shouldn't be too obvious, as they are both large subsonic jets.

AFAIK, there's no coding in FS9 to make aircraft fly around mountains. I know there's some AI terrain avoidance coded into FS9 but this does not preclude (addon) AI planes from mountain crashes.

If the rising terrain is in the vicinity of the ARR airport, I don't think there's much can be done about it.

If it's in the DEP airport area, one can include an alternate airport on a new track which misses the rising terrain and where the AI does a TNG before proceeding to DEST.

I too have tried editing the aircraft.cfg to change aircraft climb and descent rates but no joy.

Bill

P.S. If the rising terrain is on the AI approach path, the AI will often miss the terrain only to go missed and do endless go-arounds until disappearing into cyberspace.

The problem is not really the mountain but the plane not following it

Sam, do a search on AVSIM for my name, O'Brien.

I did a B-52 AI package, this should work with the freeware Buff as well.
