Why don't any of my add-on planes

show up at any of the airports I go to?  All else is well and alive, menu shows them, I can choosse and fly them, but they are not (except for the chosen to fly airplane) visible on the aprons or gates.  Only the original MS default aircraft show up.

I looked at the air files of the default, and made sure that my planes have been set to show up as AI/flyable "0" (aircraft type=0)  in the air ed file

The only aircraft that will show up anyplace are the default aircraft. The add on planes will never show up unless you are using a traffic program. Microsoft included the traffic but  only included the default aircraft. Unless you are familiar with AFCAD or another traffic utility, you will be stuck seeing the defaults only. Of course, there are 3rd party add ons.A great free traffic add on would be PROJECT AI
Or a payware product would be ULTIMATE TRAFFIC

If you really want answers, you can get them over in AFCAD & TTOOLS FORUM

Good Luck!

Dave

Thanks for the advice Dave.

So there is no way for me to change the air ed air plane type to 2 and have my own VA planes show up as additional traffic?   Sure would like to see my painted planes  at the airport etc.

I am not familiar, but I will move this to where you might get some answers!  ;)

cwloew. You don't need to modify the aircraft to use them as AI traffic. Any installed aircraft can be added to the database with a utility named TTools. This takes a little figuring out at first but is not difficult once you understand the principle. Read a few threads on this forum for more details.

Not all flyable aircraft will be ideal for use as AI traffic. It might be a better idea to add some real world traffic from the PAI link that Dave posted.

IMO, the key to your question is in numbering the aircraft so they are selectable (recognized) by the flightplan.txt file. Where does the AC#1, or AC#5736, come from?

Good question.

We specify it in the aricraft.txt file before Compiling in TTools. Just make your aircraft.txt file look like:
AC#1,320,"Lockheed Unique Name C-130 AI"
Just keep adding as many planes as required by using (and making each unique) the title="Aircraft Name part" from your aircraft.cfg files.

It's simpler than it appears; see Lee Swordy's Readme in TTools
