I'm using the latest version of AFCAD and running FS9 on Windows 98. I designed a new airport in the Sahara near Libya, and when I tested the area there was a mountain in the way!  ::)

Now after I've flattened the extra bit of mountain away ddhelp.exe performs an illegal operation when the flight planner is opened. This is extremely irritatating as I need to restart. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem with AFCAD or the Flatten switch while still preserving my airport?

I wont swear to this but your problem might be related to the fact that you are using windows 98. I would suggest you contact Lee and ask him if afcad will work with windows 98. Lee is the author of AFCAD  you might have to use a different version.

How can I get to him?

I am not sure. If you have AFCAD check in the readme file. I am at work now and unable to look. I tried searching for Lee Swordy and found no direct link.
But the one thing I did notice was no mention of AFCAD using windows 98.
But that does not mean it will not. Maybe some else her knows how to contact him.
