It won't show up in the nearest list (of airports), the nearest list only shows the nearest airports.

nor in the window where you can select the ILS

Not sure what you are talking about here (quote).

thanks for the reply,
sorry, maybe I should have been clearer..... what I meant was even when I'm at a different location and the airport does show in the GPS, it doesn't have the ILS showing in the list. Also, when wanting to select the ILS for the approach, only the excisting ILS if there shows.

thanks

Stef

talking about the green ILS symbol. On the GPS screen do you see the green arrow.
Next
Call up the window to create the appropriate navaid (Localiser, Glide Path, Marker, etc.) from the Insert Menu. You must then fill in the properties for the new navaid. You will probably want the published data for the airport you are working on to help you with this.  If you are adding a new ILS then the program will initially place the localiser and glide path units where they would typically be for the chosen runway, but you can move them later. not find the freq :) Could be why you don't see the ILS freq. :)

Okay, I get what you are saying... It doesn't show up in the list of available approaches, but does show up on the GPS screen right?

A blue box sounds like a DME or VOR. Note not all VOR'S have DME. Not quite sure about the blue dot though I will have to look at one to see what it is. 8)

Ok, back to the original question... about the ILS not showing up on the list of available approaches. I just added ILS to runway 8 at KHTO (Hilo, Hawaii). In map view, it's there, but if I've been given runway 26 (the one that came with ILS) and decide I want to land on runway 8 instead, or if I'm assigned runway 8, I have to land visual - so what is the point of adding ILS if I can't use it?
I created the approach with AFCAD2 - easy as to do. It's in the .bgl, I'm sure. Just wondering if there is another step... involving xml, perhaps?
Cheers,
Robyn :D
