AIs no longer takeoff

Postby stevewilson » Thu Oct 07, 2004 10:12 pm

AIs will no longer takeoff from and airport that I built with AFCAD2 for FS9.

When I first built it, AI,s were coming and going just fine, and ATC was working ok.

I then built another about a mile or two from the first, this second one was for military AI traffic. It is now up and running just fine.

But now the AI traffic attempting to depart the first airport calls and gets clearance, instead of being told to contact "ground when ready to taxi", ATC doesn't respond any ferther and the traffic just sit there. Also I have noticed that any traffic taking off from another airport for this one just flight stright out and dissappear in about five minuites.

I've checked for broken taxiways, missing nodes,  and so forth, have ran fault finder with no faults found. There is tower and ground freq's.

Folks I am at my wits end on this one, anyone have any ideas?
Steve

I'd run the Check for Errors on each using AF2 and make the two TWR freq different

Wji, I can't tell you how many times I've ran fault finder,  ;) and the freq's are different.

do they both have ground freq's?

If they aren't contacting ground at the problem one that sounds like the problem, although it's too simple for you not to figure out. ???
If there is an airshow with in 2 states of me I'm there

Hello Steve
It sounds like you have a air space problem. Check to make sure the last airport added does not share any of the same freq. If everything was fine before the last airport was added then something is wrong. There has to be some radio problem.
When you are at the last air port you added are you able to contact gound or the tower of that air port.
By any chance did you make the starting point for the military airport the same as the other airport.
I would suggest you look at the two airports something is defintely missing or incorrect.
It is probably something stupid staring you right in the face. Just back off a while come back to it, and you will probably find the problem.
I know I can plead guilty of that. You have a problem but can not find it for anything. Step away for a while come back and it slaps me in the face. I can not figure how I missed it the first time.

Gary: Forgot I had this posting on this site. I figuared it out finnaly and you aren't going to beleave it. There was actually two things causing the problem.

First was in TTools airport list, some how the coord's for the first airport were changed to an elevation twice the highth and instead of the longitude being West it was East, this caused the invisible portion of the airport to be located on the eastern side of China. That would explain why AI's took off and headed NW, they were going to China ;D Got that corrected and all seemed to be fine. But why did this happen?

The question of why or how keep bugging me till I thought about it some more.

What had happened is when I went to build the second airport I needed to exclude some objects, since I had several excludes already I decided to put them all in a .bgl file using the scenery compiler in M$ SDK package,
this worked great, with only one mistake.

In order to put excludes into a bgl file you have to start with an airport, and I did this, only I forgot to use the  "-" symble in front of the West coord's, this caused all of the problems.

Like you said, step back and have a look.

Anyway all is fine now. Thanks for the reply.

Cheers
Steve

Hello steve
I am glad you found the problem. I had a hunch it was something silly. You were probably tired and in a hurry to finish it. I can plead guilty to this myself. Sometimes it pays to double check before proceding.
