I had to cut that short as there came a call from downstairs that a program was on about Bristol Airport :D (missed your message craig but thanks!) I didn't see any howlers fortunately!

What is unfortunate however is this ^....... What do I do??? I've set Area_16's, height in AFCAD, Scenery flatten switches - you name it. Absolutely no change in the height whatsoever....

Has anybody got any Ideas? Is it possible to edit the FS file to the correct height? Im completly befuddled!

Its quite funny seeing the cessna's etc going round with just their fins showing! But I think I would rather see the whole thing >:(

Bird, am I right that this is a replacement scenery?

If so, I can only remind you what I said earlier about the AFCAD height parameter.

I spent some time messing about with AFCAD2 trying to create aprons and taxiways for Tak04. Suffice to say that my scenery is currently FSSC with just an AFCAD file for parking and taxi routes.

You might be able to get some joy if

1. you check the exact height of the default scenery

2. you set that height exactly in any FSSC file you might be using

3. also the same height in the AFCAD2 file

Try reading this

http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az= ... 858&page=4

Apologies to Pete for linking to another forum - hope he doesn't mind - but it's the only way I can see to give the right advice.

Roger

PS I still think it's a bit premature to be using AFCAD for total scenery design UNLESS maybe it's a completely new facility. I know that view was not shared but it ain't done me no harm so far!

No updates have been produced yet for AFCAD, Airport or FSSC that use the knowledge base in the new scenery SDK. When they have been then I think all will be well.

Experiments I have done creating new airports using XML coding have worked fine with AI but although I know others are experimenting like crazy with XML exclusions etc to create modified existing airports, I don't yet know what the results have been and I may need to do some work of my own.

I suspect knowing how the new XML approach stitches levels together (even when you don't want it to unfortunately based on my experiments), it will overcome your problem.

However, creating aprons by manually coding each point will be incredibly tedious - I have just done a a few simple taxiways and parkings by hand and it took ages. That is why we have to wait for the genius Mr Swordy to work his magic and that's why I said originally it was presently a bit premature....

But that's just my view and now you can see the reasons why. I know others may not agree but that's up to them, and for you to decide where you stand. After all you're the one with the problem that no-one including the venerable Arno Gerretson knows the answer to just yet.

Oh well ???

This is FSSC scenery, I just need the AFCAD at the right height so the AI will work! All would be hunkydory if the AI would just sit on top!

I have tried everything im sure but I will certainly recheck those points. When setting the exact height in FSSC, do you mean in the scenery properties or an Area_16*?? I have not tried changing the overall properties.

*Is that the right thing to use??

Thanks for the link, ill try the double-AFD file thing.

No updates have been produced yet for AFCAD, Airport or FSSC that use the knowledge base in the new scenery SDK. When they have been then I think all will be well.

Are there any plans currently to update FSSC to the new code? If not it will begin to show its age against AFCAD. I do hope Derek is going to!

Thanks rollerball

Just looked in briefly Bird

In that case the AFCAD is staying at the original default scenery height.

You must modify the scenery alt in properties and the flatten alt to be the same figure as I suggested above and it should solve your problem.

AFCAD cannot change heights as it could in FS2002

The altitude in the FSSC scenery properties was correct, along with the AFCAD and applicable Area_16n's.

I shall try this double AFD file thing, I hope this works or the only option I have is to lower my scenery.....

Well the double AFD file worked..........sort of :-/

I now have the correct level, without the edited stuff....

How can it be reading the new height without reading the edits ??? ??? Unbeleivable!!!!

Now to try and get my edited AFD file working at the correct height!

I have Finaly got it working! It was much easier when it saved directly into the scenery file!

A question here: Are these anywhere near neing right? I have never seen any markings in real life so there just a guess. Will they do?

I thought I might like them so I don't have to have that silly pink line! they guide you right from the runway to the parking slot ;D

I found this site which explained the regulation markers......... I went a bit overboard I think! I've even got different shaped arrows for signalling a taxiway from the runway and signaling different taxyways from a taxiway!!! (Make of that what you will....... :-X)
