Ok, so I'm placing these parking spaces and they're working out fine. Only they're all grass and no pavement. So what am I missing here?

Here's the afcad screen

and here's the properties screen for one of the parking spaces...

I need pavement and lots of it! :)

He he
I was in Hong Kong visiting my auntie so just for fun decided to nip into CLK and do a bit of airport re-modelling. Shoved a bit of taxiway down when no-one was looking and stuck a small gate on the end of it.
When I turned round someone had only stuck a bl**dy aircraft on my new gate without even asking!

You can't just put in the parking places, Kev. They don't give you the pavement. You need to put 'normal' taxiway links in to get that!

So is this better or is there another way of doing it?

Sorry Kev, I haven't had the need to do this properly in 2004 just yet as my scenery has all custom aprons and AFCAD2 doesn't do lines on them.
You can put in taxiways with surface, lines and lighting but you CAN'T modify aprons. AFCAD2 taxiways need to go on top of aprons and parking spots need to go outside the limits of the taxiways and be connected to nodes on them.
If you do what I did, ie just plonk an unconnected parking place on top of a taxiway, it looks fine BUT the plane on it ain't gonna go nowhere!
The moment you connect the parking place to a taxiway node it erases the taxiway surface up to that point ie defeats the object.
So I don't think you can do what you want properly with this release of AFCAD2.

Well, now you're getting into scenery design and I have the feeling you don't really want to be doing that right now.
Why don't you just wait for AFCAD2 v2 - that'll let you do what you want.
If you can't wait, you'll need to d/load FSSC (Flight Simulator Scenery Creator) or Airport for Windows and start learning how to use it. But unless you REALLY want to get into scenery design I'm not sure the learning curve's worth it.
I'd still recommend you wait for the next AFCAD - I bet it won't be too long coming but poor old Lee Swordy must be under a heck of a lot of pressure right now!

I thought this was version 2! :) I got FSSC, but have yet to learn it. I also tried GMAX, but that IS a pain to learn. It's slow going, but I think I'm getting it...
Thanks!

Yep this this is version 2 but it's 2.0.
What you really want is 2.1 that isn't out yet (I assume 2.1 will have the 'modify apron' feature that Lee includes in his list of 'future features').
I wouldn't touch GMax for doing something like this. You're not modelling! In fact I haven't touched GMax at all yet....I am still anticipating that as a future delight in a life that is already overflowing with happiness and pleasure

Yeah - I can't wait (NOT)

I wasn't thinking about this. I wanted to model the St Petersburg, Florida area, as they left out the Sunshine Skyway Bridge (it's only 14 miles long!) and the Pier, which looks like an inverted triangle, is just a block. The Sundome, the downtown area, etc. are all not modeled in FS2004. Unfortunately, these are all beyond my meager abilities at the moment, but perhaps someday! :)
