FS2002 and project AI questions

Postby Frodo » Wed Sep 24, 2003 4:21 pm

If I install Project AI add on after FS2002 and all companies in downloads page of projectAI site will it be
fs2002 work fine?

I will replace the default ai traffic for project ai .

I hope someone understands my question
There is nothing here now, I want to learn the ways of piloting and be a pilot like my father.

I have done just that and it works fine
If you have any of your own AI that you made up it pays to back it up as I found that you can loose it when downloading some other AI
The Project AI is great and the Project AI add on makes it easy
Be carefull if you have Traffic Tools alrady loaded as  the add on has created  another one in my case in the add on folder.
I use multlayer airports at KLAX and Heathrow and sme others to make it very realistic as there is heaps of traffic there from all the Project ownloads

PAI airline installs will NOT replace your default AI aircraft. They add more flights for the airline(s) you have added. To replace the default AI, you need a flightplan editer like AITM (AI Traffic Mover). AITM can remove flights, replace flights or add flights of your own. ;)

I believe Frodo was referring to the utilities available at Project AI for removing the default AI traffic.......... :)

No Problems
Project AI Traffic is very realistic
I deleted the default AI, I dint think it was worth backing up as its all fictional liveries
I have loaded most of Project AI and my system works fine
Gets a bit low on frame rate at busy airports like Heathrow but you have a aircraft taking off and landing every half a minute with all the downloaded Project AI
You need to download the best AFCAD files for those airports to handle the traffic and then tune those as well
I use 7 layer AFCADS at KLAX and EGLL.
You end up having the Aircraft going to designated terminals making it real.

?????????

Do I understand correctly that you have 7 AFCAD layers at these airports?  I wonder how you accomplish realistic AI traffic in so many layers without having planes landing on top of one another and passing through one another on the taxiways..........

If it is important for you to have your aircraft from the various airlines park in the correct location at the terminal, I would recommend using the RAFCAD method (resizing gate radius) with AI Traffic Mover and/or AFCAD.  However, I've heard that there are issues with using AITM with fs2004 and an updated version of AFCAD to be used with fs2004 is still on the way, so be patient if that's what you have!...........

Good luck :)

They 7 layers at KLAX and EGLL work pretty well
Ocasionally  you get an AC run through another on landing but they never taxi through each other
They all line up behind each other for take off and for some reason which I dont know, the tower which is on same frequency for all layers directs them in turn
It does look very realistic
KLAX ahs the added advantage of using 2 runways for takeoffs and 2 for landings so you set the runways on each side for the terminals on that side
AT EGLL taxiing to terminals is set on different taxiways so you dont get AC running through one another

I once had a similar thing going on at Brussels, but with just three layers.  One thing I learned is that while some of the visual results may not be realistic, it does a lot to increase an airport's traffic capacity.  At a place like Heathrow where you only have the two parallel runways, it might be a good idea, especially in my case since my airline doesn't fly there!  I'll never have to look at the mess that goes on, but I want the traffic to be produced......

One thing I love about AFCAD: There are many ways to cheat! :)

Ditto   AFCAD is tops
As its been said many times Lee Swordy is a saint

I am now making  AI with choppers by following Hagars Helo downloads and using AFCAD making appropriate runways and taxiways
You can actually add a helipad on a normal airport and make an AFCAD runway & taxiway for the helo and have the helo flying AI along with normal AI

The new AFCAD won't be using overlays. It will be able to assign seperate departure and arrival runways, and assigning spaces to aircraft will be done by matching entries in the aircraft cfg's to the parking types in AFCAD. With many other improvements, the new version sounds great and I can hardly wait for it's realease. :) As for the new AITM, it was supposed to be released on Sept. 26, but has been delayed for about 2 weeks. :(

I have been trying for 6 months to get ai flying at icao NZWK. Aircraft vanish at departure time. The exact setup works ok on another airfield....ICAO NZDA.
any ideas?........Jim

Arthur,

If an aircraft disappears from its parking space at departure time, it usually means that there is not a contigious route from the parking space it occupies to the active departure runway in AFCAD.

Be sure to check all of the taxiway links in your NZWK AFCAD file to make sure there are no broken or stray  links.

Good luck :)

emh8.  Thanks quick answer.  Lee Swordy's fault finder shows ok.  It is a very simple field.      One small ramp, parking connector to hold point, taxiway to runway.  That is it!   Works ok on another field, but not on NZWK. I am begining to think there must be something in FS2002,yet experience tells me I am doing something wrong yet again.......Jim
