"@" in flight plans

Some of the flight plans I've downloaded have "@" for the arrival times, I do not like using the a set arrival time, I'd rather TTools calculate the arrival time. My question is can you remove the "@" from the flight plan?
It is a weekly flight plan if that makes a difference.

Thank-you Lee Swordy for TTools & AFCAD, I use them daily....................

It's been a while since I've encountered anything like what you described.  Probably because I'm used to building my own flight plans or downloading the most realistic AI plans I can find..........

I would say whether or not the "@" is a problem depends on how TTools responds when you run the Compiler.  If arrival times are being inserted despite the "@," then there is probably nothing to worry about.

On the other hand, if the Compiler is giving you error messages, such as data being in the wrong place within a plan, you might want to take a closer look!  I'm sure with your experience with TTools, you have already learned that there is a such thing as "bad" flight plans.  This is what happens when someone uploads their work without taking the time (and effort) to do the job right...........

Good luck!!! :)

According to the notes with TTools 2.0 the compiler will automatically calculate the arrival time based on the departure time, distance, cruising speed, etc.  You may also specify an arrival time (preceded by the "@") and the compiler will calculate the departure time.
(Found on page 11 of 18 in the User Guide under LEG COMPONENT section.)

Thanks emh8, I figured that was the case. I haven't even try to install the plans with The "@" in them yet. I usually do my own also but I'll try just one aircraft flight plan and see what happens.................

You can easily remove the arrival times. Typically, I'll change all the times to 00:00:00, which forces TTools to refigure it. To do this, I use Excel. Excel is good because it allows you to change en mass. Here's how-

1. Open Excel
2. Open the desired .txt file (you will have to tell Excel to search ALL files under FILES OF TYPE)
3. It will give you two choices. Delimited and Fixed Width. Make sure Delimited is selected and click NEXT.
4. The Delimiters menu will pop up next. Tab will be preselected. That is OK. Click COMMA and NEXT.
5. Click FINISH
6. Do your editing.

To Save.
1. On the FILE pull down menu, click SAVE AS
2. Put quotes around the file name and put a .txt at the end Ex "Flightplans.txt"
3. Click the pull down menu entitled SAVE AS TYPE
4. Drag down to CSV (Comma Delimited)
5. Click SAVE.

Hope that helps!
