AI being rude

Postby murjax » Thu Jul 05, 2007 9:06 pm

I was out flying yesterday from KJAX and when I was waiting at the runway to take off some other jet came right through my plane. I always thought they waited if you were in the way but it this plane didn't do that. Is this some kind of AI glitch or do they always do this?  :-?

The ATC goes by the order in which you call in for takeoff, taxi, etc. So if you called in after that other jet the ATC won't know you are there and they will give the go ahead for the other plane to taxi right all over you. ;D Same thing if you are calling the tower for takeoff. Call in first and you will be first or you will just be behind other planes forever. ;)

Since AI is supposed to mean Artificial Intelligence you would think things like that would not happen. But somebody forgot to tell Microsoft that. So AI in FS9 has no brains at all they will go where they want to and if you are in there way oh well they will just completely ignore you. The one I like the best is when you are on final approach just about to land when a 747 flies right through you and lands ahead of you than ATC has the gall to tell you to abort landing. I say up yours and land anyway  ;)

ya, thats happened to me, except what happens is that there will be a Cessna that lands and taxis off the runway going 15 knots. Ultimately ending up in me having to go around and redo the approach, sometimes they will still be there. I'll finally land because im sick of it and i know that in real life they'd be off the runway, so i take my 737 right up that cessnas arse.

EDIT- I can actually remember another time when I was on IFR from Lubbock to Dallas Love (737), I did everything they asked me to, they were lining me up for approach for 17. Then out of nowhere ATC tells me my IFRs been canceled. THAT, made me mad. lol

There is a utility called AISmooth that helps in the air with separation.  it actually puts AI in a hold if necessary.  Hepls a lot.... not perfect....but better.

I think you can find it at www.avsim.com
I tried it and it did seem to help but I decided to stop using it as I did not think it made that big of a differance so what I do at a croweded air port is to turn off ai and then turn it back on this usually resets every thing and clears any traffic ahead of you. 8-)

Happened to me on Airliner Pilot.
I had just landed in Glasgow and ATC gave me my taxi instructions which ment going over the runway, next thing I know a 737 is bombing down the runway, so that cost me my flight >:(
