No Airport

Postby commoner » Sat May 21, 2005 2:00 am

...Hi all...not sure if this is in the right section but here goes...

I have recently added the new Robin Hood Airport to FS9 and though it is all working fine and the Aardvark Thomsonfly AI aircraft are working and looking great there is a little problem with the GPS display...

....the green ILS feather is there and I can get there with GPS and land with ILS with no problems, but the actual icon where the airport should be is missing. Clicking where it should be brings up the runway info as normal.......wondered if any of you guys have see this sort of thing and could help. It's really only a problem because I live local to Robin Hood and use it (FS9) as a base now.......thanks in advance.......commoner ;)

Is that scenery: "EGCN Doncaster Sheffield (UK) scenery
File Description:
Scenery with AFCAD file for the new airport of EGCN (Doncaster Sheffield) as it is now known located in the United Kingdom. Formally a Royal Airforce base known as Finningley, it has now been resurected to handle low cost and holiday traffic for the South Yorkshire area.
Filename: doncaster_egcn.zip
Author: Barry Wilde"

I didn't find it here at SimV but could d/l elsewhere if the filename was (confirmed)  known.

After d/l and installing this scenery by John Young, i see what you mean re: airport icon not showing in GPS mapview. this is not something i would have noticed had it not been mentioned.

funny thing is, when EGCN is first loaded and the GPS is opened for the first time, the round airport icon shows and then it quickly changes to a runway icon.

I could not even get a screenshot at 1280x1024 but do have one of the runway icon:

I hope this is what you referred to

Here's what AF2 readme says about Addon Scenery
"21. Add-on Scenery and AFCAD
BGLC files will completely override the visual elements of AF2 data, but will not block the facility information from the AF2 files. Mixing AF2 scenery with BGLC scenery:

Designers would use a scenery design program like FSSC or Airport for Windows to create the visible BGLC scenery and

instrument-usable navaids, and they would use AFCAD to produce the invisible AFD airport facility data to match.

Some designers may be wondering if they can use visual elements from the AF2 scenery, such as runways and curved taxiways, with visual elements from BGLC, such as buildings and other structures.
