TTools formula

Postby Chris M. » Wed Jan 26, 2005 7:32 pm

Everybody has to learn some time but i was wondering if there is a formula or step by step way to do it manualy.  An example would be nice for everyone.
Thanks Cessna :)

That's good news may i suggest placing Lee's TTools Readme file icon on your desktop (it will be underneath the TTools.exe icon if Auto Arrange Desktop is used)

Lee Swordy manuals for AF2 and TTools are the best written in cyberspace so anything one wants to know is just a double-click away.

ok i think i have it some what figured out.  But i dont understand how to make the flight plans.  I dont know what some of the numbers mean and stuff. PLus the perameter thing is also fuzzy to me too.  I kinow you guys get tired of this but it can become easy if somebody will Idiot proof AI flight programing.

For the flight plans try this link paying attention to the last paragraph.

Hi Cess,

Being able to edit the files RAW may take some to get right (I tried and gave up)
However there are many freeware programs that do the same thing for you.

Most of them just require basic information ie: Aircraft type, start airport, destination airport, flight level and departure time.

One of my favorites is yRoute from spacejock software HERE

It only requires small amounts of patience and imagination and will do the rest for you. 8)

However if you would prefer to do it by hand, then I will recommend Gus R's link :)

Cheers,

Carl

I thought we had this conversation already. Nothing we do with FS is idiot proof but much of it is fool proof. Go to  John Goodwin's site . He gives a step-by-step to get your AI planes flying; e.g.,

AC#1,GBJWG,89%,24hr,IFR, 08:00:00,00:00:00,070,F,0001,EGSS,20:00:00,00:00:00,080,F,0002,EGKK

With this code in the flightplans.txt file and AirCraft#1 in the aircraft.txt file and EGSS + EGKK in the airports.txt and compiled into a traffic_mine.bgl we have joy.

bill

P.S. John's site explains what each part of the plan controls.

Hi Cess,

After you've opened TTools and decompiled the Traffic030528.bgl, load yRoute and you should have this screen :
Image

Firstly, go into "settings" and make sure all the paths are right (this is my setup and it works fine) :
Image

If it's all ok, press ok to go back to main screen.
Then hit the "Load selected flight plans" button and it should come up with the "choose a flight plan" box.

If so, navigate to TTools (default : C:\Program Files\TTools) and choose "FlightPlans030528.txt"
You should then have this box come up :
Image

Click YES and it should start loading, if it worked it should say : AC#1 - "Beech Baron 58" under the AC# box in the TOP RIGHT corner.
Find the aircraft you're looking for (default ones are easy, if you want to use a 3rd party add-on, PM me and i'll e-mail you a detailed guide), click the "Flights" button underneath and it will show a list of flights on the LEFT of the screen.

Click "add" to create your own (it will seem as though it crashes, it doesn't - it's just there's a lot of data for it to load at this point), and the rest should be easy.
Most of it is just drop-down boxes and numbers. :)

Good luck mate,

Carl

Looking at all the screenshots from Yroute reminds me why i just make the Notepad.txt files and smply Compile them with TTools.

Once again from the top: (you can do this!)

airports_mine.txt
contains airports from FS9's airports.txt file after Decompiling with TTools. ALL the airporstdo not have to be included in airports_mine.txt; just the airports used; this is why this method is better because all the files are smaller. Here's an example of what' in airports_mine.txt:

EGLJ,N51* 40.55',W1* 4.83',240
EGLK,N51* 19.42',W0* 50.83',328
EGLL,N51* 28.63',W0* 27.68',79
LFPD,N49* 6.15',E0* 33.94',551
LFPE,N48* 55.65',E2* 50.06',217
LFPG,N49* 0.57',E2* 32.85',387

aircraft_mine.txt
Go to your FS9/Aircraft directory and in each aircraft.cfg file there is a line:
title=Cessna Skylane 182S
every aircraft has this line and it identifies that aircraft. Just enter all the planes wanted as:
AC#25,140,"Cessna Skylane 182S"
AC#26,140,"Cessna Skylane 182S Paint1"
AC#27,140,"Cessna Skylane 182S Paint2"
AC#28,140,"Cessna Skylane 182S Paint3"

remember to place the "quote" marks (use any #XX. you want)

flightplans_mine.txt
Using the example already given:

AC#1,GBJWG,10%,12hr,IFR, 08:00:00,00:00:00,070,F,0001,EGSS,20:00:00,00:00:00,080,F,0002,EGKK

Just change the aircraft number to match the sequence established (#25-2x) and change the DEP and ARR to any airports in your airports_mine.txt; i.e.,

AC#26,CALLSIGN,10%,12hr,IFR, 08:00:00,00:00:00,070,F,0001,EGLL,20:00:00,00:00:00,080,F,0002,LFPG

add as many flightpalns as you want; change times or routes as desired

That's it place the three txt files in youTtools folder and fire-up TTools; select the three bolded files in the lefthand box and Compile them. Any errors will be found by TTools.

Place traffic_mine.bgl into FS9/Addon Scenery and go see your plane depart LFPG at 0800Z

Can it get any simpler now that Lee Swordy has given us TTools?
