Indecision is not a good quality to exhibit while flying airplanes The day FS9 came out (July 29, 2003 -- as I recall) I moved on from fs2k2 and commenced a profound study to learn the vagaries of the latest offering from MS.
The two simulators are apples-and-oranges apart. One is text-based the other (for lack of a better term) is BGL/html based.
IMO, FS9 is infinitely superior to the fs2k2 but admittedly the learning curve is steep. Hope this helps you come to a decision as to which one you want to fly.

I started with FS95 and it is like going from a rusted out VW to a shiny new Rolls Royce.
