AI traffic goes array!

Hi,
I programmed a flight using TTOOLS from SLLP (El Alto Itl, in La Paz, Bolivia) to SPZO (El Cuzco, in Peru). I was able to see the flight progress, from taxiing and take off, I basically chased the flight until it got up to its cruising altitude of 31000 ft, at that point ATC issued its standard warning "flight 921,you are 300 ft below your assigned altitude, climb and maintain...etc,", two more warnings and radar service was terminated. The flight started to behave erradically, like, making altitude corrections of about 1000 ft throughout the flight, and about 50 miles from Cuzco the AI flight just veered to the left and dissapeared. I landed with my airplane in Cuzco, no AI plane on the ground, I changed the time back to see if I could see it land..nothing. I changed the time again to its scheduled departure time, but the AI airplane never showed up at the airport. Is there an explanation to this?. I will see if I can see it returning to SLLP. I'll sit at the end of the runway and I'll wait to see if it arrives and not simply "pop-up", because I can see the airplane sitting at the terminal after its scheduled arrival time. Are you sure the aircraft didn't disappear in to the smog over Cuzco?

Seriously, whenever a problem occurs with an AI flight plan, troubleshooting is required to find the source of the problem.  Usually it boils down to a problem with the flight plan itself or with the aircraft involved.

I've heard that certain aircraft will fail to fly their assigned route if they are asked to fly at too high a cruise altitude.  FL310 would be ambitious for any 40-minute flight under normal circumstances, but you're talking about flying in the Andes, where FL310 actually looks modest!

Based on your description, it's more likely to be an aircraft issue.  I have to ask if you are using an add-on aircraft for the AI flight in question.  If so, who is the designer of the aircraft?  Maybe we can narrow it down from there..............

Hi Erik,
Thanks for the correction to my misspelling. I think I found a solution to my problem. I added an additional parking spot to Cuzco airport, the plane showed up, I saw it taking off and again, ATC cancelled its flight because it was unable to hold its altitude. I am using Captain Sim's 727-100. I used the same aircraft in other routes within LAB Airlines system, and it works. I lost sight of the returning flight to La Paz, I waited around for its arrival,  never showed up. After changing the clock a couple of minutes after its scheduled arrival, it showed up parked at the gate. Maybe it was just for that time. I'll do another side-by-side flight again.

Hmmmmmmmm.

I've looked at the Captain Sim web site and I couldn't see any information about using their models as AI aircraft.  So as a result, I'm not sure if they're designed for that use or not

I would try using one of the default aircraft, like the MD-80 or 737-400 on that flight plan and see how the aircraft performs.  If it works fine then we'll know it's an aircraft problem and not a flight plan problem.

One other thing to consider:  When building that flight plan, did you punch in the departure time for the subsequent leg(s), or just for the first leg?  I've sometimes found that an AI aircraft will behave strangely if there is no scheduled return flight.

I have also done a couple of repaints of LAB Airlines for CaptainSim's Boeing 727-200s and I see them taking off from all airports I have programmed, but now that you mention it, I never saw them landing... you have a great observation there...I will change the flight using a Projetc AI airplane, I'll check if it actually behaves normal...I'll let you know

The flight plan looks legitimate.  Let me know how it goes with the PAI aircraft.  Don't worry about the screen shot - that won't tell me much..........
