Air Transat Flight 236

Postby Midnight_LS1 » Fri Jan 06, 2006 2:51 am

Is there any flight plan or adventure out there for FS9 about the Air Transat Flight 236?

Flight 236 ran out of fuel due to a large crack in the F/O engine side on a A330, and both engines flamed out, they glided to Libson.

The actual cause of the fuel leak was an overtightened fuel supply coupling that cracked. That's where it should have ended. At worst, if the emergency had been handled correctly, a single engined flight could have continued.A serious breakdown on the flightdeck got them into the situation but superior airmanship is what got them out of it. That's why Air transat at 1st demoted the crew but promoted them after being rebuked in the press. BTW Air Transat are still required by the Canadian DOT to fly closer to landfall than any other Canadian Airlines due to this incident. The whole report was a wash.

Actually I think you will find that the Airbus glided to an airbase in the Azores (Not sure of the name). The reason for a complete fuel starvation was that the captain was sceptical of the comuter readouts on EICAS and put it down to a computer error. Following procedure he opened the wing cross feed valves and then did not close them again. This lead to all remaining fuel to be lost through the leak.

But to answer your question i dont believe that there is a flight for this event.
