Talk Down

Forgive me for taking the easy way out, but I do not have time to look at all 60 + pages, so here goes.
Here is a copy of the post I left in the main Centry of Flight Forum.

"Whilst on a trip to Gibralta, I noticed that listed in the frequency list, was a talk down frequency, so I tuned in and guess what.............nothing.  Was that just wishfull thinking at MS or does mine not work. Or does any one know of a mod to allow this. Or, did I do something wrong."

From the replies, I would gather that I have done nothing wrong, and that there is nothing wrong with my FS9, so it must be wishfull thinking.
Can anyone point me in a direction on this, I think that it would be a great add-on for FS9. Sadly, what goes on inside the white magic box that lives under my desk is the 8th wonder of the world to me.  I am ex Air Force, so if anyone wants to take up the challenge, I could supply information, but that is it.

I second this one. If anyone has the programming skills to do it, a lot of people would appreciate it...

Talk down is what is known as a precision approach (PAR). The comtroller in the tower has two screens, one showing the approach glidepath, and one showing the extended centre line of the runway, out to a distance of several miles. The Precision Approach Radar returns provide a "blip" on each of the screens relative to where the aircraft is, and the controller can see if the aircraft is either above, below or on the glidepath, and also whether the aircraft is left, right or on the extended centreline of the runway.

From this they can then effectively talk down the aircraft, by telling the pilot where he is relative to the glideslope and centreline, and allow him to correct himself.

Generally the calls from the controller would be:

"Left/Right of Centreline"/"On Centreline"
"Above/Below/On glidepath"

They will also, if the pilot is not on the glidepath or centreline whether he is correcting or not...

The variables that would track that situation with the aircraft are readily available in the data stream coming from the sim.... FSUIPC could access it easily.  A guage could be developed with canned "ATC" chatter saying those things.

I'm surprised that it hasn't been done?
