File converter.

This may sound odd, but the only program that can make normal aircraft into statics is only compatible with FS98 or CFS1 files.

Also, if anyone knows of a better utility to make normal aircraft into statics, please can they tell me.

The aircraft I am trying to convert can be in FS2K, FS2K2, FS2K4, or CFS2 format, and was designed in FSDS2.

Sorry I can't presently advise on your request, but what program converts the CFS1 planes to static. When I was making/editing WWI  missions, I found it simplest to omit any parked planes on the sidelines; I'm presently retexturing the flyable CFS1 biplanes that are used in these missions (also need a decent German LVG for future use), which is taking me much more time than forming the missions. If I'm provided the basic model with just the simple texture, I should be able to make it  more realistic  (the small bit-size of standard static object textures - 256color format - rather limits this, however: I made some limited changes).

What did you wish to convert these aircraft for? If it's for use as static scenery objects the simpler FS98/CFS1 aircraft are perfect. In fact, the simpler they are the better. I don't think there's any practical use for converting the far more complex & graphics intensive FSDS2/Gmax aircraft.

The problem is that I am trying to convert aircraft I have already made myself.

Doesn't matter, I've worked out how to do it with GMAX now.

Ah OK. I thought you were working in FSDS2. I've never tried it but it should be possible to export an object from FSDS2 in BGL or API format. It should be possible to import the API into FSSC or Airport providing it's not too complex.

I'm using both.

I found a file converter from FSDS2 to GMAX in aircraft design.
