Cockpit & Other Add Ons

Hey guys I was just wondering how to add on new things like the cockpit.  I just downloaded the SR 71 and it works.  I wanted the cockpit so I downloaded it, unzipped the file, moved it into the SR 71 folder in the FS 2002 file itself.  I was just wondering if this was the correct way or if something else has to be done.  Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Well, inside the SR-71 folder there should be four other folders as well as at least two files.

Folders:
model
panel
sound
texture

Files:
aircraft.cfg
a file with a weird name that is usually referred to as an airfile

In the panel folder (the one we are interested in) there should be at least two files.  One should be called panel.cfg and the other should be an image file.  There might also be several other image files, as they might be needed for other parts of the panel.

To make a panel work, simply drop the new panel.cfg file from the downloaded zip into the panel folder for the SR-71.  Then take any image files from the zip and drop them in the folder as well.  Whenever it says "overwrite files?" reply yes.

If there are gauges in the zip file, take them and drop them in the main gauges folder in the FS2002 root directory.  This next part is important, so pay attention.  Are you paying attention?  Good.  DO NOT OVERWRITE ANY GAUGE FILES.  When it prompts you, say NO!  DO NOT OVERWRITE ANY GAUGE FILES.

Anyhoo, you get the idea.  Any problems, come back and see us . . . ;)
