Ground servicing

Hi,

Does anyone know if you can get vehicles and/or jetties to service your aircraft? If this is not a feature of FS2002 then is there a utility?

Thanks very much,

Infidellic

Hi infidellic :)-

The stock scenery in FS2002 does not actually service your plane :P  The closest you will get to ground movement at an FS airport is the animated radar :-/...

However, there are addon sceneries which have that ability...
I have a couple which have moving "follow-me" cars, catering and fuel trucks, and passenger gates (along with some other things...)  But best of all, some actually come to your plane.  In one scenery, the fuel truck actually fills up your tanks! ;D

Here are some cool sceneries that I have: ;D

EDDW2002-
eddw2k21.zip @ avsim.com
This has all the things i mentioned above- its very (!) complicated but has a good readme file...

LEPA2000-
lepa2k20.zip @ avsim...
Designed 4 FS2000, but has a FS2002 update...

There are other interactive sceneries, just search for "dynamic scenery" at avsim, here, or flightsim ;)...
Hope this helps,
bm :)

Thanks for the tip......

I will try these out later. Only thing that I noticed was that these appeared to be for specific airports; is there not a more general one?

It does not necessarily have to service the aircraft just look roughly like they are. i.e. come to the aircraft when parking brake engaged, engine fuel supply off and avionics off.

Thanks anyway,

Infidellic

Unfortunately, no. :(

There isn't a program (at least that I know of) that can do that for any plane at any airport...

The only way to have dynamic scenery objects that come to your aircraft is in a scenery add-on.  The cars and trucks have to be part of the scenery, as they work with files that specify where they should go at what time.

For example, if there were a utility that whenever you put the parking brakes on, a baggage cart drove to you, it would't work in some places...
If it came from a specific direction every time, it would prob. be going through bulidings and AI planes at half the airports :P...

But I think you will like those airports, as they have many interactive things n' stuff in them. ;)  Also, there are LOTS of other airport addons I haven't seen that have dynamic cars and gates...

Good point, wonder is Microsoft will ever think about making something like this?

Thanks again,

Adding ground service along with the abilty to get out of your aircraft in a first person prospective and walk about, even into rooms inside buildings and such would be just as nifty as pizza delivery! Maybe even add interactive AI characters such as those hard working ground crews, bartenders or even AI passengers..that would make the FS sim the best thing ever!

...and it would only be a 4000GB install... ;)

GTA III has a degree of this tho and it ain't that big! You could only walk into the terminal or something.....lol nice idea anyway!

Back to the thread: does anyone know of any dynamic scenery like the one for EDDW (see above) but for London Heathrow?

Well, I'd say that would be an under-exageration! More like 40 000GB!
Mind u with the Longhorn development underway, which will release computers with hard drives measured in terrabytes, then that size of game could only be around the corner. Maybe FS2008 or FS2010? I don't think we would find it in the 2006 version anyway.
Maybe it is still futuristic.

Ben

But then they would have to call it Real Life Simulator, and RLS isnt as cool as FS :-/ ;) ;D

I had the same problem- make sure you have dynamic scenery in FS turned on...
if you do then you will see flashing lights coming from the followme cars and other trucks @ the airport...

if that doesnt fix it make sure you have ADS set up correctly and your plane is recognized.  if the plane is recognized the sign will say "hold for followme"  if it's not, it will be blank.  If it says hold for followme, then just keep going forward slowly until the words start to flash...

for the boarding sign to go off you have to go through with all of the fuel truck, catering, etc. stuff and then it will say "boarding" until your time on the departure board runs out.  then it will say 'ready for push' and once you leave the airport it should go out I think...

phew, out of breath lol :P

hope this helps- bm ;)

i had been using the eddw2k21.zip.bremen airport well cool but now when i went to use the ads to set aircraft when i click on set up. it comes up with at the top of the box set up fs200x base directorythen under that in the gray area it says select fs2000 main directory.
i type in where the fs2002.
then on to edit aircraft type it tells me error file not found eddwaird.bgl
um pulling my hair out here.i have even uninstalled the eddw file and reinstalled and still get the same  :'(
