Hi. Im totally new in here.
I'm comming from the Flanker community.
(Su-27 Flanker 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 .. and now the newest version (3rd) of them all Lock On: Modern Air Combat (known before as Flanker: Attack)

Okey so. I've installed FS 2004, played with it a bit. I downloaded myself C-17 Globemaster, because that's the bird I'd like to fly the most - for now.

My question is.
What plug-ins/addons/texture replacements/special effects etc etc... utilities../damage models/crash models etc etc
should I download to get myself at the top

please don't give me names to any half-solutions, weak plugins
Just the BEST ONES :)
I'll really apreciate it. The file library is huge, and I don't want to waste my time testing them all.

I'm not a computer moron, I can install everything and make it work/ and learn how to use it. Just give me names to all the best things a power-user MUST OWN :)
to get the best playability, realism, sound, eye-candy..  8)

Assuming your system can handle it, I'd definitely recommend Bill Lyon's water textures.  Google it and you'll find it easily.

I'm new to FS9 too. Will the water texture mod work ok on a 2.6gig 512RAM system?

Thanks for warm welcome :)

Ok, that's what far I got.

Because I'm aiming for C-17, I already got myself Project Open Sky Boeing C-17 Globemaster III with updated 3d model (Boeing C-17.mdl 2001-12-28 )
And soundpack :) Unfortunately flaps are unrealistic ones, and I have to change it. And engine sounds have crackling issues (in the sound loop). I'll have to edit it myself I guess. Couldn't find any other sound pack.

I also lack panel for C-17, can anyone help me find it?
and virtual cockpit if it is possible

You could port the FS2002 cockpit into the FS9 model without any problems, its available here at http://www.simviation.com/fs2002panels3.htm
As for the VC, alas you can't add one, its part of the basic model :'(

So by editing the basic .mdl file, you can create virtual cockpit, right ?

EDIT: Okey, I've downloaded and installed that panel you told me. It looks great. However altgps.gau crashes my FS9 (FS2004).
