Would appreciate any help in finding an authentic P&W
Wasp engine/prop sound file to suit a Harvard/Texan.
This particular engine had no reduction gear and the unique sound was produced by the prop tips approaching the speed of sound.

And -Yes -I am knocking on a bit(Hope there ain't an age limit on  this Forum )

In fact... go down to the Cafe or the GEneral section and there is a poll there about the average age of SimV.  Go help tilit it away from the young'ns  ;) .

Worked on Harvards in RNZAF in the Sixties
The nearest sound that you may get is the Dakota on FS2004  with the Twin or Double Wasps, I still get mixed up, One is 18 and the other 14 cylinder. Te Caribou has the other one but I dont know what the download sound is from. I also fly the Catalina which has the same donks.

We have a Harvard club in Ontario at Brampton Airport. They have quite some excellent specimens from around your time.

As for engine sounds, try looking at Avsim.com or Flightsim.com. Avsim seems to have a more regularly updated sounds section so you may be in luck if not now, buy maybe in the near future.

The only sound better is 10 Polikarpovs

Perhaps Fozzer could send me a tape of his Bike(without the silencer)running at max. I could use it as a modified sound file

Aaron Swindle has done a Harvard sound system, it's called T6txnsnz.zip . In the description it says it was made using authentic sounds, both inside and out.
I personally have not used it but it could be worth the try. If you do a Google search with the words "FS2002 Harvard sound" you'll see it.
Also using the words "FS2002 Wasp sound" gives you a lot of things to choose from. (I've got a Wasp jr sound set that I like; don't know where I found it but it's somewhere on the net).
In general, doing a Google search with the words "FS2002, sound" and engine or aircraft type works well.
