Hi everyone,

I would like to join Virtual Naval Aviation Command(naval wing of the Virtual U.S. Air Forces)  and they require FS2002(naturally) and Arrestor Cables software. Now,Arrestor Cables USED to be a  software until February 1st,2003.However,Abacus bought the rights and now includes the software in its Flight Deck 3 .

I don't want to pay an extra 30-40 dollars for the Flight Deck 3,so can anyone tell me  how I can get the Arrestor Cables software, for free?

Thanks for the help,appreciate it!!

Ozzy, didn't Rich Hogen ask all copies of Arrestor cables to be removed from sites like SimV, Avsim, & Flightsim???

What I have now heard was that Rich wanted the program removed from sites (obviously FSPirate won't give two blue budgies for that), but that up to 2.4 could be distributed by individuals. That is what I have been told, but I haven't passed out a copy to anyone, and won't until Rich publishes something official on this.

arrestor cables2.4.1.0

Hi folks,
i just realized at these posts, that arrestorcables' copyright has been sold to abacus.
Allright so far so good - but
what does it mean for a person that had it downloaded a longer time ago -

Am I not allowed any more to give copies to friends ?
Or even to use it ?
From which date on it is no longer freeware ?
I have got version 2.4.1.0, is this still 'FREE' ?

Anyway, to remind, here the AUTHENTIC "legal stuff" that came with the
zip - downloads from former arrestorcables site:

1) contents in readmefile "readmeArrCabCVN"
LEGAL STUFF
===========
This is freeware, but the author retains copyright.  You are free to use and distribute this package as long as it remains unaltered in the distribution and nobody ever makes any money from it.  These files are offered as is and with no warranty offered or implied.  Use at your own risk.  The author accepts no responsibility for any problems caused or perceived to be caused by using these files.  Use only as directed.  Store in a cool dry place.

2) contents in "ArrCab24"
***  LEGAL AND OTHER STUFF  ***

All package contents are Copyright (c) 2001-2002 Richard Hogen

YOU MAY FREELY DISTRIBUTE THE ORIGINAL, UNCHANGED ARCHIVE FILE AS LONG AS NO MONEY IS EVER MADE BY ITS DISTRIBUTION.

NO WARRANTY OF ANY KIND IS OFFERED OR IMPLIED.  USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Send bug reports to Richard Hogen (rhogen@speakeasy.net), BUT PLEASE TRY TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM FIRST.  A bug report is not helpful if I can't do what you did to duplicate the problem.  PLEASE READ THIS FILE FULLY BEFORE SENDING A BUG REPORT.

Could somebody explain the actual situation, please ?
Or is there any flightsim loving lawyer who might explain the real legal situation ?

ALSO I WOULD LIKE RICHARD HOGAN TO EXPLAIN HIMSELF how to proceed with former downloads.

Note to Richard Hogan (hopefully he reads it): Of course I'm not blaming anybody or anything, just would like to know the actual proper situation,

thanks a lot  :)

joki. This makes the situation quite clear. http://www.speakeasy.org/~rhogen/main.htm#_Work_Information
ArrCab (any version) is no longer Freeware. If, like me, you have a working copy of an earlier free version I see no reason why we cannot continue using it.

From Mr. Hogen's site
Regardless of version, ArrCab is now commercial software and only Abacus may distribute it.

Does this mean that individuals can't share it with eachother???

To Andrew and others, of course..

as I understand the mentioned "LEGAL STUFFs"
by Richard Hogan

allow explicit to use and to share, but not making money of it or altering it, ok ?

But due to my experience legal issues should be answerd by proper experts, called lawyers or solicitors,
because you never know, how legal stuff is being interpreted..

however I keep using it and got the explicit written permission to share with friends, I think this is quite clear

fly over and not under  ;)

Vette, first off VUSAFS does not "REQUIRE" it's members to use the Arrestor Cables program. It's considered payware and they don't use payware for anything.

The NAC people are using 2 different wings, Carrier Based and NAS based. You can still get the sceneries but not the exe from his site.

If you are unsure about sending this file around you should email Rich, I'm sure he would be against it and stating it on this board is even worse. PM someone if you are going to share ::)

Or email Tailhook01@vusafs.com to confirm.
