request for water trails...

Postby gooneybird » Mon Aug 15, 2005 9:03 am

ok, i know by default that FS9 has water trails behind you as you're taking off/landing with float planes. However, how about when/if us "daredevils" want to buzz just over the surface of the water? Like in the movie Firefox when Clint is just up off of the water doing like Mach 1 or so and the big walls of water are forming behind him in his wake. I'm sure someone knows what I'm talking about and can probably do this simply but I'm not knowledgable enough to do it myself. Any takers? :D

ps - yes, I've actually used the Firefox model to try and recreate this effect off of the water but to no avail and I'd love to see it..  pleeeeeeaaassssseeeeee somebody

yeah, don't figure as much  :( as it would probably be an effect that would have to be linked to one plane and then figure in variables for this such as altitude off of surface, etc. but i figured that this could be a neat effect as well for buzzing over the low areas where there is snow as well. oh well...  :(    thanks anyhow

I thinkl that the gauge could be written.  FS2004 keeps track in a variable of what the ground surface currently under the plane is, and it also keeps track of the AGL altitude of the plane.

You'd then have to write an effects file to generate the mist created by the plane.... which is easily done with the info in the Effects SDK.  Then take that effect file and "trigger" it when the altitude is X feet over the cround when the "ground" is water.

best,
