Any good scenery meshes?

Postby Leaveit2me » Mon Sep 15, 2003 2:53 pm

???Hey, I've looked around a bit for scenery meshes and have found some but not many. I was wondering if you all might happen to know some really good scenery meshes I could get. I don't really care what area it covers, I just want to most accurate one that there is. Also I was hoping for one that was free too, I don't mind paying for one but I kinda don't want to enless it's really really great.

I've tried the one in the download sections that for the US mesh, but when I installed one the readme said that it was for FS2000 and I have 2002(Pro).

      Thanks for your help. ;D

It really comes down to the area you fly in. There a lots of good bits including meshes for Alaska.
I use the J. Haut meshes of Europe (freeware), and they are great. V.Accurate.

Hi Le....
The DEM terrain mesh Folders drop straight into your main "Add-on Scenery Folder" in FS 2002.
Read the instructions in the download...

For advice in installing scenery in general, (Airfields/airports/etc),  have a peek here...

Cheers mate... ;D...!

Hi there:

The best freeware meshes for Europe and northern Africa are made by Nanuq Faitmain; I don't know how he does it but he's got access to classified DTED1 elevation data and the results easily match Lago's payware meshes (which are good too):

http://www.faitmain.com/fs2002/default. ... SC=165&T=D

On the same site, there are a few 'demo' files by Thierry Pignot, which nicely complement Nanuq's files:

http://www.faitmain.com/fs2002/default. ... SC=118&T=D

As for the various options for installing mesh files, there's a well-made online guide on Steve Greenwood's website:

http://www.fs-traveler.com/tips-g.shtml

And the 'plug' at the end: my mesh files for British Columbia and SE Alaska are available here at Simviation (search for Holger Sandmann).

Cheers, Holger
