Looking for....

What aircraft have you been unable to find after a long search? There may be an answer!

Looking for....

Postby Flying Trucker » Fri Nov 02, 2012 9:16 am

Goodly morning all... :)

Still keeping busy at the old homstead and several bugsmasher fields but yesterday I got thinking about what I wanted as far as a simulated aircraft for Microsoft FSX.

Hope to start simulated flying on this electronic gizmo sometime near the end of this month and posting some shots also.

My back was so sore from helping out at the bugsmasher field last night (maybe getting too old) I could not sleep.

Started searching the Simviation Vintage Downloads for a couple of new bugsmashers.

Low and Slow is the way to go... ;D

I could not find anything from the EAA "Experimental Aircraft Association" or some popular kits of Ultra Lights to download to use in Microsoft FSX.

I would like something along the lines of a flying bathtub with wings and a small engine to putter around the cabbage patch in.

Open cockpit...Oh yes... :)

Many here would remember my favourite movie "Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines".

Well one idea was to have an aircraft built prior to World War One, 1914 to 1918 but after 1909 which I believe the aircraft portrayed in the movie are from.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Another idea was to have aircraft prior to the Piper J3 Cub era.

Doug,

Though not WWI vintage, for an open cockpit bi-plane you can't beat Ant's Tiger Moth. A 'payware quality' aircraft.  :)

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

These should fill the  "Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines" bill.

Jeannin Taube

Kruse-Curtiss Flyer

Bleriot XI

Antoinette Type VII Monoplane

Just for fun, the Caproni Stipa

You can also find some interesting olde tyme "kites" by entering the year (1910, 1911, and so on) in the search box.  That may get a lot of hits for fs2000, 2002, 2004 and fsx, but a lot of the FS2004 addons work, with the usual caveat of occasional gauge issues.  Some may be worth a try from FS9
