Douglas DC3 on Skis and Wheels

What aircraft have you been unable to find after a long search? There may be an answer!

Douglas DC3 on Skis and Wheels

Postby Flying Trucker » Sat Jan 21, 2012 4:15 pm

Good afternoon all... :)

I have the Awesome 4 Some DC3 download installed in FSX.

Works great.

There is a bare metal DC3 with Skis for repainting.

I was wondering if anyone would like to have a go at it.

Myself I would like to see it in civilian colours with either a Canadian or American Registration.

The cockpit can also be redone for the bare metal aircraft but I do not know how to do that but will supply a Link.

Thanks...Doug

Just a few questions Doug. What background color do you want?

Do you want it to have Stripes or anything?

And what Registration number would you like?

Once I get these anwers I'll start this afternoon. (It's 10:30am here in NZ) :)

Hi Andy... :)

Thanks a million...wow this is what Simviation is all about...folks helping folks... ;)

If you want to leave it all metal fine...
-top of nose flat black
-red wingtips
-red elevator tips
-red lightning bolt from nose to tail
-perhaps a red bar somewhere on the skis...will leave that

Ok Doug I have started the repaint. I've done the wingtips, elevators & nose. I will do the rego & lightning bolt tomorrow.

What font would you like the Registration in?

Hi Andy... :)

I will let you pick the font that you think looks best.

The cargo version is great for both.

ski-C-ANDY is great
wheeled-C-ANDY is great also or N-190A...something like
     that...already got a C-DOUG... ;D

Just thought Andy....what do you think about this:

-flat black same as  top of nose in a half moon shape just behind the props but on the front top of the engine cowling but not the whole engine cowling.
-Just a flat black stripe going from the top front half around down to say the wing
-a red stripe on the top of the skis should set it off I think...
-red prop tips

I think that with what you have done will look sharp.

Looking forward to the Upload on Simviation... ;)

Ok Doug here are some shots of the '3. The repaint is taking longer than expected because the fuselage texture is broken into two files so it

Wow...starting to look good Andy.

If you can do the flat black on top of the engine cowlings only, the red stripe across the skis somewhere and red tips on the prop I think that would do it....will leave that up to you.... ;)

;D...LOL

I always did like an all metal aircraft.

Never one for these odd paint schemes like we see now on some of the commercial spam cans... :o      ::)      :-X

An all white car, truck, boat or aircraft certainly does not turn me on at all.  Two toned with white is okay depending on what it is on.  Just never liked anything all white... ;D

Oh and around here two tone is starting to become the normal for cars again.

Goodly afternoon all... :)

Did not make it to the bugsmasher field as Andy "andy190" got these uploaded to the Simviation Forum.

Just had to do several FSX flights.

Tomorrow will be at the Bugsmasher field to do some circuits in the C185 on wheels/skis and to brag to those other Old Retired Rocking Chair Flying Geezers about Andy's work... ;)

Thanks Andy... ;)
