best bae-146 for fsx

What is the best available bae-146 for FSX right now? I don't care if it doesn't have a virtual cockpit, but it does need at least a 2d panel with a good checklist.

I'd like for it to have an Atlantic Airways livery, as I'm going to fly it to and from the Faroe Islands. Anyone know of anything out there for me?

Thanks!

Historic Jetliners Group has the -300 and the -QT versions on their site. Didnt see the livery you were looking for, but maybe its available elsewhere? here ya go

Not sure of FSX compatibility however...

Yes sir. I've tried it and it works fine, but it takes so long to load the 2d panel I have for it that it's annoying. good panel though.

I'm going to have to find someone decent enough to paint the Atlantic Airways livery on it for me.  ::)

I have the -300 from Historic Jetliners Group and can also attest to the fact that it runs well. There is one area upon which I improved that made a significant difference in both appearance and performance. I converted all the external graphics from BMP format to DDS DXT-3 with MIP maps. My performance improved so much that I am using the plane for AI traffic (even though the web site says it is not suitable). Also, all the flicker is gone when viewing the aircraft from a distance.

Another thing to fix are the positions for the services. Since this was originally targeted for FS9, there is no position data for the jetway or baggage truck. Here is what I added for the [exits] section of aircraft.cfg:

[exits]
number_of_exits = 3
exit.0 = 0.1,  36.00, -4.80,  0.00, 0
exit.1 = 0.4, -12.00,  6.00, -5.00, 1
exit.2 = 0.4, -20.00,  5.00, -2.00, 2

Note that you can not place the baggage truck exactly where it should be because it causes a collision with the wing.

Aha... good to know that that model actually works in FSX.  It's the 300 but I guess I can live with that minor change from my favioite (200).   Since this is my main aircraft......(97% of the time) not having one for FSX has been one consideration (of a number) in not switching over to FSX from fs2004.

On HJG they say it does not work if I am remembering correctly.  I think over on the BAe Panel Project page Matthias has a newer special separate version of the panel that is specific to FSX now (even though he is done with the project).

best,

.............john

Peter,

That is a high polygon model.

John,

Thank you for your advice. Since I have relatively few AI flights scheduled with HGJ's BAe-146, the impact is really not noticable. Besides, I will eventually replace all my AI planes with Ultimate Traffic 2. As for the 2D panel, it is moot since I only use the 146 for AI traffic. For me, if a plane has no VC I will never fly it.

Peter,

The complex panel and its "external to the sim" systems are eating resources when it is AI too, I think.

best,

If it's used for AI only simply delete the Panel folder. Sorted.

I just noticed from another thread in this forum that a native FSX BAe 146-300 is being developed. The company, Iris, is currently selling a soundpack where they show a video of there upcoming aircraft release:
