FS9 repaints of Alan Devins Bell 407 in KOMO 4, and KIRO 7 textures! I have asked over at hovercontrol but I think they are dead over there since no one ever responded.  ;D

I think it's do-able.

Give me a week or so to get started on it.

Joe

First stab at the KOMO4 skin unearthed some texture mapping issues. Disregard everything in this shot except how the stripes line up at the doors.

Not much I can do about this as what you see under the red arrow is mapped to the same part of the texture sheet as what's under the black arrow. :'(

Kind of a Catch-22 situation. I could flatten out the angle of the stripes to make them look better close up, however it would be obvious they don't line up with the stripe continuing on the other side of the window when zoomed out.

The further away you view what you see here, the less obvious it is.

So give me some feedback, can you live with it, or should I bag it?

thanks,
Joe

If I may, and this is a serious labor of love suggestion, I ran into this similar problem on the Gmax A109.

Create a 'grid' layer on the paint kit, and apply it in game so that you can get a good shot like the one above with the grid showing.

Once you have the shot, you will know where on the paint kit, to offset the lines that go across the door, to where it looks 'off' on the paint kit, but when it is applied in game, it looks correct.

It's a pain in the butt to do, but the results are worth it. :)

If you can't do what Shane suggested, I can live with it.

You mean like this...

If you look in the red oval it is clear that there is a repetition of the 3 and the 5. Changing 1 changes both, nothing I can do about that. In fact the outline of the doors pretty clearly doesn't match up with the fuselage.

Such are the woes of a flight sim repainter.

I shall

I love your grid system!  8-)

You're right, not much can be done there.  :-[

Don't I know it.  ;D ;)

Just wanted to see how things were progressing with the project.

Slowly, haven't been blessed with a lot of free time to paint and my video card took a dump.

But I haven't forgotten about it.

Here's an update...

About as good as it can get. Can only do so much when the same pixel is displayed twice, in different areas.
