Cheers :)

Meh, I don't think you'll find anything better than the default Robinson R-22 (which was one of my favorite defaults, by the way).

Oh, there's one there already? I didn't even know that :D

Thanks!

The R22 comes with FSX rather than FS2004 doesn't it?

A very nice Robinson R22 helicopter is included by default in both FS2004 and FSX  ;)

The default R-22 flies like a log wagon nothing like a real R-22.
I have around 2hrs flight time in a real R-22 so I know for a fact how it flys.

Why would a professional flight sim include aircraft that fly nothing like the real thing?

Thanks for the info, though :D

Why would a

professional flight sim [glow=yellow,2,300]< - - therin lies the question[/glow]

include aircraft that fly nothing like the real thing?

United Airlines has PROFESSIONAL simulators. They fly like the real thing.

Microsoft calls it's 70 dollar simulator 'professional' for reasons known only to microsofts' marketing geniuses

Maybe I should have said "leading commercial flight simulator". I know a lot of propheads out there take their sim-flying very seriously ;D

Nice thing about default aircraft - they're fuuuun to tweak. ;) The R-22's tricky though - it's .cfg and .air files are surprisingly short for such a complex little flier. Still, if you want a more nimble R-22, I'll see what I can do. ;)

Okidoki...that didn't take too long. ;)

I started by Youtubing some R22 aerobatics and started fiddling. I've a Robinson that appears to act very similarly to what I've seen on the videos - and MAN is it a wiggly little bugger! ;D

Wiggly - but that's just due to not being used to it. Within a few minutes I was flying it very comfortably. She's fast, nimble and incredibly responsive; quite capable of both low-level screamingly fast flight and pinpoint precision hovering. I'm trying to work up a quick flight video right now but in the meantime Avoidz and Jet Black1 (and anyone else), if you would like to test the new flight characteristics yourself, please let me know and I'll send them to you. :)

Cheers!

Just a bit off-topic, but in regards to tweaking I have the AlphaSim V22 Osprey, and I was wondering if there's a different handling config for it anywhere; it's very tricky to land :-/

If anyone knows anything about that aircraft, please pass on the info :D

Does anyone have an alternative aircraft.cfg file for this heli to make it more realistic?

Cheers  :)
