I have been thinking alot lately that there aren't any quality freeware or payware Cessna 180/185's.

Remember, the C177 is a Tricycle Aircraft, whereas the 180 is a Taildragger....a change of "type", and a bit of a handful for the unwary fresh Pilot... ... ... ...!

i mentioned the Cessna 177 to compare a less popular aircraft to a more popular one, but i didn't think of this before....people like the less popular 177 because it is a special aircraft, and that sells on the FS market it seems.  You are right BTW, some of my first flight lessons were in a 180, it was a handfull, or foot-full for that matter.  You can always turn the realism on low in flightsim, a luxury not seen in real life!  It is no harder to fly than a supercub though.

I think that either plane would be a great addition to our sim, but I'm not sure what option to choose when doing the poll...

Just shows on what level people appreciate the aircraft i guess.  To make a poll had to have something to vote for right?

It's hard to find a good used 180 or 185 because nobody wants to sell them if they have one that says alot about the plane 8-)

with all the updates I have found installed and it's the best one I have ever found.

I bet AlphaSim could make one because they have a very nice Cessna 170B [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Good call on alphasim, I have alot of the payware products and some of the freeware.  Havn't seen the cessna 170 yet!  Alphasim planes have a good balance, they are clean models with good panels, and always great on the framerates.  

I would love to see Carenado or someone else make a 180.

Agree with you 100%.

Would also like to see the old DeHaviland of Canada Otter (DHC-3 radial engine) replicated in all configurations along with the DHC-2 Beaver  (radial engine).
All configs would be: Amphibian, wheel, wheel/ski, ski and float.  ;)

There are still a lot of C180 & 185s around both on wheel, ski and floats in Northern Ontario and they are good performing aeroplanes.
Flying a taildragger opens a whole new realm to the avaitor and after all these years flying them I do not think they are any harder to fly than an aircraft equipped with a nose wheel.

Flying Trucker, thanks for your comment.  I agree with you, taildraggers are more fun to fly.  I started training back in back in 2000, in a Cessna 180, and a few supercubs.  I did fly cessna 172's early on, but always liked the conventional planes better.  Moved up to large twins now and I no longer fly any taildraggers, but I hope to soon buy one when I get fully checked out at Atlanta ARTCC!  Keep flying!

Quick question for you.

Does AOPA still put "Aircraft for Sale" in their monthly news paper?
We used to get a copy of AOPA about every two months when someone went South but have not seen one in nearly a year I think.

Excellent paper and good source to check out for what is on the market. (Like C180 with wheel/ski or float kit)  :)  

Oh and the paper was free with membership was it not?
