Hello,

I am looking for a freeware F/A-18A, C or B hornet for FSX. Yes not the superhornet the older one which i think is way cooler :)

I don't like the AFoundry one so i am looking for a good freeware Hornet for FSX. Help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Aerial Foundry is the best you will get for an A, B or C model. Its actually one of two for FS. AF and Abacus (I do NOT recommend the latter).

Hence why I said "I do NOT recommend the latter". I also feel there were several other possible ways to express that motion about Abacus' product. And I like I said, there is no other F/A-18 A, B or C. AF is short for Aerial Foundry.

Erm...not to be rude, but "Abacus sucks d**k" is rather immature. Like I said, there are better ways to express something than to use such foul language.

The designation FA-18 is the super hornet's.

The F-18 (no 'A') is the baseline hornet.

Nope!

The whole "Hornet" line has gone by F/A-18. It's the ending letter that matters in terms of this plane. A-D are Hornets, with the rounded intakes, while E-F are the Super Hornets, with the rectangular intakes, larger size, and increased performance.

Sadly, the only models for the A-D planes that I know of, thats any good; is the Aerial Foundry ones. There's a freeware one around here on SimV, but honestly; it's not the greatest.

yep sb the F/A-18 was the original, its always been that way. they just moved forward in the alphabet when they got to the super hornet, which are the single seat E model and 2 seat F model. the regular F/A-18 was single seat A and C and 2 seat B and D.  ;D  ;D

of course i probably dont have to tell you that!!  ;D  :D

im curious if anyone knows where to find a good hornet, and not the super hornet. i like the super hornet, but like layne said, the A and C models are my favorite!!  ;D

...?

The "B" models of all US Jet fighters are two-seat trainers.

A/C/E are all single seater's;

B/D/F are all two seater's

Quoting Wikipedia;

The F/A-18A and F/A-18C are single-seat aircraft. The F/A-18B and F/A-18D have two seats, space for the rear cockpit being provided by a relocation of avionic equipment and a 6% reduction in internal fuel; two-seat Hornets are otherwise fully combat-capable. The B model is used primarily for training, while the D model can be configured for training or as an all-weather strike craft. Whereas the training model has both seats configured as pilot's stations, the "missionized" D model's rear seat is configured for a Weapons and Sensors Officer to assist in operating the weapons systems. The D model is primarily operated by the U.S. Marine Corps in the night attack and FAC(A) (Forward Air Controller (Airborne)) roles.

Holy Hell! just reading this thread makes me wanna shoot myself! listen to isak922, he is right.  Layne you should learn more about your planes before making false statements. and yes, AF's FA-18 HORNET is the best, just pay the money, it's worth it.
