Speaking of FS2004, if your friend has a PC that can't hold a iFdg or an overland, he better bow his head and accepts to use the good enough to be better than a default plane Mike Stone's one, or he can get another PC which can actually use one of those MD11 its actual rig can't stomach.

I hate your friend :P He shouldn't call a plane "rubbish" just because it's not "top of the line" freeware. Mike dedicated a lot of time creating his models, and he gets little to no thanks for his hard work. They're VERY frame-rate friendly, and unless your friend likes lots and lots of studders in his game, he better learn to like Mike's MD-11, or get a better PC.

Here's another idea...since there's nothing out there that "suits", why not look into building his own aircraft from scratch. Maybe then he will discover how much time & effort goes into creating these things.

Mike Stone is one of the best designers known to our community. Tell him I said that.
Ifdg planes are not very complex, and are quite easy to run on a simple system.
