If someone could tell me exactly what programs i need i can get them and start  but im just not sure wich ones will work for FSX and i dont want to spend the money to get them only to find out it wont work for FSX.  thx

You need to get intimately familiar with what makes up a sim plane, its file structure, how it all ties together.

Start playing with Gmax. There are some great tutorials available. That should expose you to the learning curve..

In the mean time; try your hand at repainting too.

Start here  http://www.simviation.com/fsdutilsdesn.htm   And poke around at www.freeflightdesign.com  too.
