Howdy Peeps.

I was just wondering, whats the best freeware 737 out there? How about best panel, sounds or repaint? (Doesnt have to be in the same file) Do you guys reckon its worth the money for a payware? Just thought I would start this thread so everyone could share their opinion, I know there have been treads before, but remember this includes sounds, panels and liveries. So guys, give us the low down! What do you think?

Include other addons and even your favourite route for the aircraft!

Cheers

Probably POSKY and/or SGA/FFX (Kittyhawk) for detail, and Moach's 737 for realism 8)

born_2_fly,

I have the PMDG payware 737-800/900, and I hardly ever fly them.

For freeware: the Kittythawk external models for the -700 and -800 models are excellent - but there's no VC.

If you want a VC (and why wouldn't you?) then there are (currently) two front runners that if you team them up with Giles Hacon's 737NG panel are as close as it comes to payware without having to pay for it. These are the 737 Experience -700 and in just the last day or so, the Posky -800, which has Moach's transplanted and updated VC incorporated. No frame rate hits here either.

With models like these, why pay?

;)

Alex,

Well, IMHO there's nothing yet to challenge the models that Erick Cantu has put out there, in different guises. His FFX/SGA -300 to -500 models are superb, as is the -200. There was an FFX -200 but this was replaced a couple of years ago with an update that I think was put out as a Kittyhawk. There isn't a -100, although what I have done is to use a -200 in Lufthansa livery, as it was pretty much the only airline that took the -100.

None of these has a VC, though.

The only other one is the -900 which I think will come from Posky sooner or later. In the meanwhile, I'm using a flyable version of the Aardvark -900 as it's a pretty good model. There was a FFG -900 model for FS2002 but it doesn't display properly in FS9.

;)

As a former big liners flyer (now I most only fly small GAs, but I'll be back, I'll be back...  ;)) I can confirm the above. Personally I donwloaded KittyHawk and Moach, and ended up flying mostly Moach's (although I did have some panel problems with that).
PMDG is freakingly detailed; it requires a manual just to turn it on properly; guaranteed it's worth its price though.

I am really struggling to get the basepacks for either of these aircraft, they seem to be hidden somewhere! Any help?

Cheers,

Alex

Either throw in a search for "737 Experience" and "Kittyhawk 737" and "POSKY 737", or, take the long route and go page by page in the FS9 Civil Jets Downloads

The 737 Experience is in the FS9 downloads pages here. The Posky -800 and Giles Hacon's panel are on the Posky website (www.projectopensky.com).

I forgot to mention that Andy Roesch has released the -600 and -900 models with simpler VCs than the 737 Experience or the Posky -800, but these are good to have also. You can get them at Avsim.

Mmm...I rarely fly 737's...but if I do...I fly them as real as possible...so I usually fly my 737 from PMDG...Great birds and they can be flown without reading the manual ;)
