Hey guys, I was wondering if someone could make an SR-71 Blackbird or an F-117A Stealth for CFS3 (with workable ordnance). I have no idea how to make airplanes for sims, but I would appreciate it if someone could make one/both or point me in the direction of a CFS3 version of these planes.

By the way the poll says which is the better fighter but the F-117 is not a fighter it is a ground attach aircraft and the SR-71 is a recon aircraft and never carried ordinance

Hi Blacksheep. From what I know, it's rather tough to design planes for CFS3, as it was based on a whole new platform thus making it difficult for designers.

Yeah, I got to thinking about how much time it would take to make a plane. Maybe someone knows where I can get more planes for CFS3 than just here at simviation? And Ryan, I know that the SR-71 wasn't a fighter. I was just wondering if anyone could get one. Maybe the F-117 isn't a fighter in the sense of F-15's and F-16's, but it's not a bomber, recon, refueler, or drone, and I've never heard any plane referred to as a ground attack aircraft. Last time I checked, we fly fighters with missiles on them to hit air/gound targets just like the F-117 does, but maybe you know something I don't know.

The F-117 is a Bomber or Ground Attack (like the A-10, F/A-18). It has very little to no air-air capabilities, thus why it is STEALTH. The reason it got the designation F-117 was when test pilots logged their flight they were told to write the meaningless designation 117. The original manual was printed with F-117 on the front and because a reprint would cost too much, it recieved the desgination F-117.

exactly. if it ever got intercepted, or found, its dead. no way to fight back, run away, or anything.

After I did some research (the air force page), I found that the F-117 is a fighter. No, it doesn't have any air to air capabilities, but at
www.af.mil, it is classified as a fighter. Now, I do agree that it's dead if it's caught in the air by a mig or a sukhoi or something like that, but when was the last time you heard of one getting shot down??

well thats true, but they are designed so that they cannot be traced by radar, or at least make it hard to be traced by radar, so its hardly surprising since the people who would shoot one down probably dont know its there until too late and by then the F117 has blown them to hell and back with an air to ground missile.

On the other hand, the F-117 hasn't been used in a situation where there is a significant/credible air-air threat, so , (hopefully) we'll never find out just how vulnerable it is ..
