Bell XV-15

I was reading up on the Bell XV-15 (precursor to the V-22), and decided that I really liked the way it looked. I was wondering if, by some strange twist of fate, someone's seen one for FS. I realise that it's a long shot, but I guess it's worth a try.

Before you ask, yes I did search on the major addon sites, as well as Google, and pretty much found nothing.

Never been done, and probably won't be until MS decides its ready to include engine rotation/vectored thrust in the FS model.  Right now, the only way to sim this is to make the flaps have huge drag and lift, and to include a massive spoiler function.  Not at all realistic, and takes away from the functions at higher speeds and high power.

But I guarantee, when the first FS to include this function shows up, you can bet good money there will be all sorts of addons with this capability . . . ::)

True VTOL without affecting the normal flight model is available now...right this second.

It does require a special guage that has to be properly tuned to the flgiht model in use, but it can be done now. Basically the guage overwrites the FM during hover/slow speed flight and allows the normal FM during conventional flight.

There is actually a modified freeware V-22 Osprey that is available on a few sites...you can DL it and do it yourself.

The guage gives you two sperate FM's, a VTOL one and a conventional flight version. Hover, sideways transition, fly backward....all possible...now.

The Pogo on this page: http://www.simviation.com/members/fs2004military87.htm is VTOL enabled.

Okay . . . I guess I've been shown . . . :P

Guess I'm just a little prejudiced against the Vlad V-22 model . . .

It's just a got so many bugs and stuff that I've been meaning to brush the dust off of my old version and fix it.  But so far, too much crap on the table.

It's OK!

Such a major breakthrough and yet it didn't garner the press that it might have. I only know about it because the author of the guage posts at another forum that I go to regularly...there was a multi-page thread about what he accomplished.

So its just that one gauge (SC-whatever) that does it?  How does that work, and can it be added to other aircraft?  Perhaps a link to that thread you spoke of would be helpful . . .

The guage can be added to other aircraft...but it needs to be "tuned" to the specific FM of the plane it is going into. I have no real idea of how hard such tuning might be...and haven't found anything that the author has published to describe such tuning methods. I do know that aircraft weight, thrust and other factors have to be adjusted in the guage for it to work correctly.
