Colonial Vipers

Has anyone designed any Colonial Vipers from Battlestar Galactica.  Any of the fighters would do.  The old one from the 70's show but better yet the mark 2 from the new series.  The plane would just have to be compatible with fs2004.  If anyone knows where I may find one or is willing to design one please let me know.

There is no BSG (TOS or new) Viper available for FS9 to my knowledge...I haven't even heard of anybody working on one featuring things like:

Dynamic Shine, Animated Warrior, VC, Animation for Gear  & Canopy and "Turbo" effect for afterburners. :)

Coming at some point (hopefully soon):

Starbuck will be the pilot. :) I'm thinking about maybe including alternate textures though.

Detail shot showing helmet detail...the "eagle" is not a texture...it's actually a small 3D model. :) The lightbar on the helmet will work and the pilot will swivel his/her head. Not all deatils have yet been finished...but I think it gives a good idea about what is going on.

Texturing is my weakest skill in modelling (though that doesn't show that much on this thing) so I will attempt damage textures for the CFS 2 variant.

My biggest problem right now is that the cockpit set from the series didn't match up to the fuselage set...meaning my cockpit doesn't quite match what was on TV! I'm thinking I might have to model an "adapter" to go between the fuse and the cockpit. Second problem is that the cockpit set was modelled only as far as the bottom of the pilot backside! To fit in the seat and the pilot's legs I have to extend the cockpit tub and this is also distorting the cockpit.

I know what you mean, the show props never had to match.I have that prob now with the Jupiter2 refit.I can do textures, but I need to finish the Jup2 refit (a complete interior remake to match the second season, and working interior and lower deck).A lot of reference pics on the net.I had some shots of the Viper, but a bug made me reload everything and lost it all. What I do is if it doesn't show some things,I improvise, most won.t even know(unless there a diehard fan like my website partner).
Best Regards,
Ronnie

IMPORTANT SAFETY TIP FOR DESIGNERS:

Look at ALL your reference materials!!!

I just took a look at the website of the folks who make a resin add-on cockpit interior for the Monogram BSG Colonial Viper. Looking at the shots I finally figured out how the cockpit fits in the Viper.

It means a rework of the cockpit I've already done...but I could have saved a lot of time if I had remembered to look there earlier. At least now I know I can finish the VC properly once I finish my current work rotation and have enough free time. :)

For those interested in the Resin add-ons look at: http://www.coldnorth.com/millennia_models/index.html
