Recommend 2-prop to downld?

What aircraft have you been unable to find after a long search? There may be an answer!

Recommend 2-prop to downld?

Postby MickeyMouse » Thu Dec 25, 2003 10:31 pm

Sorry to bug you all so much, but this is the best flight sim I've ever used.  It makes X-Plane look sick... I hope MS Combat FS is as good.

I would like to download a nice 2-prop plane that flies nice, but is quick to I can fly around and look around my state.  A jet is just to fast, but I want to make sure it's a smooth plane since I'm new at this.  Ideas?

The Twin Otter comes to mind. Then there's the default Baron. It's smaller but nice to fly. It all depends on your preferences. Do you like small planes or larger prop airliner types? For the Airliners I like the Convair.

I really like the smaller dual prop.  Sorry I should have made this clear... the bigger planes and jets are neat, but I'm using this to basically site see around my state and want something pretty snappy.  First thing I did was put to much stress on anything big and kept crashing them... so I'm trying to stay small, but I still want it fast enough that it doesn't take forever to get someplace.

btw - I did download the P-51 and it does have enough speed, but it just doesn't fly as smooth as the Beachcraft that comes with the game.

Thanks
(this is the COOLEST fs game I've ever used!)

My son scores big on this gift... WOOHOO

BTW - Some of these planes you recommend are only found for FS2000.  Will these planes import into FS2004?

Thanks

Mickey, Good to hear you having fun with COF.  For the money, it's a great product and all of the Third Party support makes it awsome!  Here's some of my favorite twins for flying up here in Alaska:

DeHavilland Dash 8
Beech King Air 350's
Beech Queen Air A65
SAAB 340

Have fun and many smooth landings!

I would recommend the default Beech Baron. Or what about the DeHavilland DH8 Comet? That comes with FS2004. Is a twin engined plane. Is british and does 28 miles to the gallon. ;D

Thanks everyone for the great ideas.  My Internet connection is down right now (my Wife lost our DSL router... rats).  Once it's back up, I will download some of these and give them a try.  While I wait, I've been spending a lot of time (I've got about 10 hours flight time in so far) flying the Beachcraft King Air 350 in FS2004.  This plane is great, it really flies nice and is a not bad to land.

I've never flown in my life because I have sever Closterphobia, so I can't get in a plane (I get dizzy and uncontrollable... ugg), so it's really nice to get to see the country side from the air.  My initial landings with the King Air were ugly (this means crash)... but now I've got it down to where I have Medium settings in realism and I get it down with no problems.  Had to make a full instrument landing in Sion Switzerland last night (snow and clouds) and did fine... what a blast.  Can't wait to try your ideas on planes out.

THANKS ALL!

yeah trust you to come up with that. Or how about a spit.. just imagine it has 2 props thats all..

My choice would be something like the KA350 default, or a smaller KingAir, or a piper- navajo and that sort. Cheyenne is a beautiful twin. Check out FSD-international.com for that beaut.

Also, have you considered rotary wing aircraft? Brilliant for exploring and sight seeing- although choppers don't seem to be everyone's cup of tea.

Happy hunting!

Odd, I thought the comet was a 4 engined jet, not a 2 engined prop.

The DH88 Comet is a two engined racer.
The DH106 Comet is the 4-engined airliner, british and the first  ;) ;D

So far it seems the dash 8 is the best, but YOU can change this. VOTE NOW
