Hi,

A challenge for all you designers out there.
The Sukhoi 100 Hypersonic bomber.
http://www.travelcentre.com.au/travel/a ... ctures.htm  the second one down is the aircraft in question.
A realistic build of this would be great- for CFS1.

Andrew.

WHile there is a model out for FS2000, it can possibly be adapted for CFS1 (if it was made with AF99)  I haven't checked the file.

Not sure about hypersonic, I thought it was Mach 3+ but I'm probably wrong.....!   :)

Would have been awesome had it gone into production. Would certainly have sent shivers down the spines of the US intel analysts!!  :o

Why was it so expensive though?

Wouldn't mind flying the Mi12, you have to say that the Russians sure liked their aircraft BIG.

There are some nice pics of both of those aircraft at http://www.airliners.net

Hi,

It was so expensive because they had to develop special heat proof materiels so that it wouldn't burn up in mid flight.
The reasing percluding this is that the speed of the aircraft=friction=heat=potential for burn up.
So they had to use a special titanium/something blend of metals so it wouldn't burn.
