I'm very new to 2004 and all I am doing right now is flying in Alaska (my home!). The only good bush plane on 2004 is the Piper Cub. Are there any other add on planes, especially tail draggers, that can be added on? Something small, like a Taylorcraft or Champ? Are most aircraft and scenery for 2002 compatable with 2004? I have lots of questions but this is a good start. This is the first flight sim that I have ever used and I'm very impressed with it so far. Would like to make some of the strips that I land at and know more life like. The actual strip that I land at behind my house doesn't even show the float pond. Thanks

First regarding craft from FS 2002, it seems some will install but with certain graphical issues like guages that arent functional in 2004, or missing props/blades, however many will install just fine.

I am not sure about scenery though.

Regarding bush planes, I have a couple favorites that I have found through various web searches for add on planes.

simviation is a good resource for 2002, and growing for 2004. Also I recommend avsim.com.

Do like I do and just spend a lazy couple hours surfing. You will find some gems out there

Welcome fellow Alaskan!  I too love the Bush planes and fly mostly in Alaska (southeast and southwest).  A must have bush plane is Bob Wening's "redcub."  A fine PA18-180.  There are also some great sound add-ons for Lycoming and other specific power plants.  Brian Aladden's PA20 Pacer is also a lot of fun.  Good Flying!

Thanks for both of the replies above. I spent several hours and was overwhelmed by the amount of information. I can see me in the future wanting to get the Software Developers Kit so that I can customize some of the strips that I've been into. Some places, like the Chena Hot Springs airstrip in 2004, don't even have any buildings around it. I'll try and see if I can find that PA18-180 and the Pacer. I'm real fond of the tail draggers. All of my bush pilot friends have them. Have you found an Aeronca Champ?

I found a nice super cub last night but it said that it was not 2004 compatable. I'd like to find one for 04 or maybe a Citabria or Aeronca Champ. Are most sceneries for 2002 usable in 2004? I found some nice Alaska scenes but haven't been able to get them to work in 04.

Some scenery will work, but some won't.

Good news, bad news, and more bad news.  I've check all three of the larger sites and the only citabrias I've found were for FLY II, none for FS 2002 or 2004.  There are several around for FS98 and 95 but I'm sure they're out of date.  I found two "Champs."  One model is very basic and it gets off the ground but it's very "primitive."  The other is a FS 2002 aircraft and it looks great but I can't get it to fly.  I'll work on it and see what I can figure out.  The good news is the Aviat A-1B Husky tail dragger by Steven Grant (Updated for FS2004) is in my "humble" opinion, one of the best Bush Aircraft models to date.  Give it a try, you'll like it!

There's also scenery files. I'm not sure if any sceneries are modeled after actual places or fictitous but real or not they look great.

You can also find other planes good for bush flying at AVSIM. The ones above are geared for the bush flying club and many come with it's livery but they are good planes.

I've been to AVSIM...good site. I have also been flying the Aviat Husky. I also found a Husky on floats! One other tail dragger that I have flown is the 140 Cessna. The graphics on the Cub that's included with 2004 are fantastic...especially from inside the cockpit. Some of the free add-ons that I have tried seem to be of lower quality...kind of "blocky." Is there a resolution differance in designing aircraft?

Hi have you tried the D.H Beaver on this site by Fred Banting /Timothy Claxton. It needs the seperate sound file also on this site, when I downloaded them they were posted together on the same page. The plane is for 2002 but it works  well in 2004. Off the top of my head its called "Upinsky" it comes in three versions float wheel and wheel & ski, the sound file is awsome, I keep shuting down the engine just to hear the starter then the engine cough into life!
