Does anybody know where I can find a Boeing 727 add-on for MSFS 2004?  Will a file for MSFS 2002 work?  I'm clueless...

Most planes that worked in 2002 will work with ACOF. If you have one that you like it won't hurt anything to install it in ACOF and give it a try. At very worst you will get an error message when you choose that plane or you'll get a functional plane without animations.
If you insist on a new one for 2004 then keep watching the downloads section. I'm pretty sure someone will be making that model soon. It's a pretty popular plane.
You also might want to post something in the "Aircraft Wanted" forum below somewhere that you are looking for that particular plane. Somebody might be considering making one and your request will motivate them to doing it.

The 727 I have for FS2002 is by Charles Fox, and features an excellent panel by Richard Probst. You should do a search for this plane, and have a look for it! It comes in AA livery, and the model is DELICIOUS!

The FFX 727 is a great plane that works well in fs9.  Do a search for it here, the file name is   FXB727pn.zip  its in the Old Pan-Am livery and there are many repaints out there for it. heres a taste of it.
all the animations work but it needs a panel, there is a good one here for fs9 and its also at fsfreeware
