wow!!!!
i have a few ?s
will this be payware/freeware?
will it be released to the public or will it be only for squad members??
also, i dont think the f111 will be able to handle all the advanced weapon systems in 2020, itll be almost 40 years old!!! the jsf will be about 15 when it enters service in there, so itll be a little outdated too.
The pig will be freeware and i assume available to all.
There is/has been several very serious proposals to modernise the F-111C.
One being to re-engine the F-111 with a modified F-22 engine, this would give the F-111 increased payload/range and the ability to supercruise. With a modern Radar in Air to Air mode and appropiate ammunition, you would have a stand off fighter that would be a very effective Su-27 killer.
The F-111C's will outlast our F/A-18's by a good 20years as the Pig's Fatigue dynamics are very well knon and very well managed.
At a recent joint excersize in Nevada the RAAF's F-111C's were the only aircraft ot achieve a 100% reliability rate.
And as for the F-35, new is not always as good as the old. There is many who have the opinion that this aircraft in particular will be an expensive lemon (this is also my opinion). The F-35, will only have around 1//2 the payload/range capabilities of the Pig even with external fuel tanks/weapons (this also throws the so called stealth way out the window). Any aircraft that has been designed to do many things with a common airframe have invairiably failed (AKA F-111B), this is what the F-35 is trying to do.
