N832SC update

What aircraft have you been unable to find after a long search? There may be an answer!

N832SC update

Postby ShaneG_old » Mon Nov 03, 2008 5:25 pm

Sorry for the slow going, this isn't as easy as I thought, :-[ But I am making some progress! ;) I still need to fix the winglets and add the stripes on the sides, but I need to know if the colors are Ok. Some of the pictures make the colors look different than what they may be in real life, so let me know if these are ok. Also I don't have a decent shot of the upper and lower surface of the wings, so I assumed they are the same color as the body. As you can see it does shine. I do have the paint line a little low, so I will be adjusting that. ;) It took a while to figure out how to have the two sides match up at the nose & tail properly. ;D I used the registration from the photos so I guess you could call that a photo texture! :D Some of those smaller details mentioned in the other post are still escaping me, but hopefully I can figure those out. I've learned ALOT with this project.
Now I know why noone wants to do custom jobs! ;) ;D But I'm glad I did and finally got my feet wet with this project. :) I should be done with it by the weekend if all goes well. Let me know what you think so far.

I think the upper color looks good. I think the bottom color needs to be a little bit more white-ish. The paint connect points look good on the nose. A few little things though:

Will do! ;) But on the silver thing, that's supposed to be chrome, don't know why it looks white in these shots. I'll have to look at that, and I'm still trying to find those other pieces that need to be blue. These paint kits seem to be designed for people with a bit of knowledge, but I'll get it. ;) Back to work! ;D

Right, first I'd like to apologise. The frame indeed was part of the model, but the colour wasn't - I was foolish to think that. Neither was the front window. I just missed it out. Anyway, I've spent a little longer on it, lowered the white paint line and tried to reduce the 'curves' at each point. Though there's still abit of pixelation, the curve is a lot better as I've taken a copy of it from the photograph and directly positioned it onto the aircraft. Got the door and first offside window coloured Tan (their colour sources are the same), improved the blue paint a little, reduced the size of the registration number and corrected it's italics. Unfortunatly, after a few attempts, I can't seem to get the white patch on the T-tail changed. Oh, also painted the underside. Also note that there's a little bit of general pixelation because I saved the images to Paint

I think it's looking great! 8-) I can't seem to locate that tail piece either. What texture file is the engine strut and door frame in?  I used your idea for using the photo for the registration, but I think I'm gonna try to paint the lines on first. The nose on yours looks much better now! Get that tail area fixed and it will be spot on! In the end the only difference between our paints will be that mine has the character lines and yours won't. You really should grab the paint kit and try it out. ;) I don't know how many times you've done this, but it appears as though you know what you're doing. This is my first try, so it's taking a little work trying to teach myself all the techniques. :D I don't know why, but all these tutorials I've read just make no sense to me. I just got to dive in hope for the best. ;D  Looking good, keep it going! :)

I'm using Paint Shop Pro 9 and DXTBMP, And joining forces on this project is a great idea. ;) How would you like to proceed? :) I'm still where my pics show me at. I didn't get to it anymore last night, and I've been watching the election coverage all day today, so I've been a little lazy. :-[ ;D

Yeah, figures about the electon. Well, tonight I'm doing some uni assignments so I wont be able to do anything tonight, plus I'm still trying to figure out my EGNB Brough problem (on another thread). Tomorrow I've a day off but I'm going to be relatively busy cleaning the flat. I should have some time tomorrow though. I'm using DXTBMP too  ;D

Well, since you're using PSP and I'm using CS2, transfering files would seem pointless unless they're 24Bit, BMP or JPEG. Plus I would really need to look at the character lines on the aircraft, which means getting the paintkit. I've been editing the textures supplied with the model - Most bits are labelled so it's rather straight forward. What I'm more concerned about at the moment is the brown lines going across the side of the aircraft. They seem so pixellated so I might have to paint them by hand, because before it was copy, paste, resize, fit, clean up. To be honest the horizontal lines on my first job seemed a lot clearer.

I don't intend to do anything tonight as last night I spent till 4am on those other textures when I had to be up for a 9am lecture  :o

Would be cool to finish this together. It's a good newbie project anyway  ;D ;D

The paint kit is identicle to the textures you are using, just no colors on the parts, all grey. ;) and it comes with the needed alpha channels for using in DXTBMP. Well worth the download for future repaints. I've been comparing yours to the photos and I think If we use your fuselage parts with the wings and elevators I've got we would be nearly done minus that tail part and the stripes at the tail. The character lines on my engines look kinda out of place when compared to the photos. So yours looks more spot on in that regard. ;)

I just noticed this:

Is this in chrome, or something else? I believe it should be chrome.

It's chrome on mine. ;) I finally found what was causing my chrome to look white, I forgot to apply the alpha to it, all fixed now. ;)

I'm still waiting to hear back from him on joining up on this, I'm gonna go ahead and keep working on it until I do though, got the wings and lower body color and the engine struts fixed now. All that I really have left is to find that darn tail piece and get the stripes on the fuselage.
Hoping to have it done by this weekend for you. :)
Although it would be much easier if I could just send him my good pieces to attach to his fuselage. ;)
