XB-70 & Stearman

What aircraft have you been unable to find after a long search? There may be an answer!

XB-70 & Stearman

Postby mustang51 » Sat Jan 13, 2007 4:20 pm

I am new to this forum. Thought I would start by asking about a couple of planes that I would like to have. First is a very good XB-70. Have tried a freeware one but want something better. The next one would be also a very good Stearman biplane, 450+ hp airshow type. Have also tried a freeware one but not what I would like to have. This may sound like I don't like freeware planes, I do, have some that are very good. The problem I have with a lot of freeware things is that most of them don't load right for me. I am sure that is because I am far from being a computer expert.
Have read a lot in the forums you have and must say they are very helpful.

Hi Bob. You forgot to say which sim this is for. Have you tried Dave Eckert's Stearman package? http://www.simviation.com/fs2004vintage31.htm

It works in FS9 & FSX.

I am using FS9 and yes I have tried Dave's Stearman. Must also say that I am a real aircraft pilot, but getting to old to trust myself anymore, so spend a lot of time with FS9. Do have biplane time and so I like it to be as real as can be within FS9 limits. The aircraft addons that said they were aerobatic, true spins etc, really don't spin the way I have learned. Have not found one that can do a good snap roll. I know I am asking a lot and that some of this is impossible, just hoping and looking.

Well, I'd say you'd have to buy payware if you're wanting that sort of realism.

Just looking at that and comparing it to my XB-70 from the Fs9 section and I must say, I prefer the old 'cold war' analogue look of the panel on that to this new digital one.

Robert sanderson also did a Stearman model which I think is more powerfull than the Dave eckert one

Edit : http://www.simviation.com/fs2004vintage49.htm for the sanderson Stearman
