Ya they really had bad timing with the F-5 but it was due to costs. At the time it was about $14000 an hour to fly the F-5 while only about $8000 for the CF-18.

I was flying around the ther day and I noticed that there is no Borden. I mean that is the birthplace of the RCAF!!, and yes all of the runways are non-opreational, but 400 Sqn still flies grifons out of there. Disapointing indeed.

I see that Alphasim has both the Cf-100 and the CF-105. Does anybody have either are they worth the money?

One more thing, what is the best CC-130 Hercules out there. I know there are alot of freeware, but which is the best, and has a Canadian repaint?

Read the review of the Alphasim CF-100 and see what you think. :)

:( :(Yes thanks to our Government the home of the Royal Canadian Air Force "Camp Borden" is done as for a fixed wing flying field.

The Hawk Packages look amazing! Can't wait to fly.

As for Borden, I was there all summer on an air cadet summer course, and there arn't cars on the runway, infact they are currently tearing up all of the old taxiways and runways, its kinda a shame to see the big yellow trucks hauling chunks of concrete away. The entier base is primarily trianing for the army, with several ranges (rocket launcher, grenade, explosives ordinance disposal, etc..) I would still like to have something there in flightsim, such as the CFSATE building and 400 Sqn.

As well too bad there isn't any good Griffons out there for flightsim.

Hi nyco_nitro :)

They used to store cars there not to long ago...hope they aren't turning it into Commercial Development like they did with Station Downsview.

Hope they bused you down to CFB Trenton to visit the RCAF Memorial Museum and the Halifax project?

I think the Cadet Program is the best there is for young folks and it is great to see you involved in it.
Good Luck ;)

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

I was there for the Technical Training course, and we didn't go off base much. Mostly just learned and did some hands on. I am pretty sure its not going to be another commercial development, after all there are all of the ranges, CFSATE, CFFA and many other training facilities located there.

I love the cadet program, it has allowed me to experience and try soo many things i otherwise never would have.

I downloaded the hawk packages. Amazing! the Hawk 100 LIFT comes with three Canadian paint schemes, the standard trainer, AETE, and a snowbirds! The hawk makes an excellent snowbird, perhaps its time Canada retired those old CT-114's and went with the Hawks. I recomend it to anybody who likes the hawk or just wants some canadian aircraft. You will be amazed by the sound!
