download guidelines

While I was looking to download a new plane I ran across  a very serious amount of them in just one type. To many to choose from, whats the best?

Can someone give me some guidelines on which ones to choose? Either by author, by? what is this GMAX? good great awsome or what.

Also along the same lines, is there any way to see how many of a certain file has been downloaded? Usually the most downloaded is the best, or at least one of the best.

Hey Marlin,
What I did at first was try different authors and soon learned who to keep and who to avoid. there are many more "keepers" than losers. If there are particular planes you like try the diff authors on each one.
gmax, i think, is a method of "construction" that is highly rated.
At least one site, "surclaro.com" does list how many times each plane or download has been used.
I'm sure this inquiry will bring you a reference to a great number of good plane builders as it gets read this weekend.welcome to the forums

Hi Marlin! Sure is a add-on jungle out there!  ;D

No-one will be able to tell you what is the perfect plane. Guess it all boils down to what YOU like or don't. I went trough a lot of downloads ( easy with broadband and fixed monthly price...) to see what I like and what I don't.

One tip: You might wanna hop over to the freeware screenshotforum. Most of the good freeware add-ons that come out are shown there by a couple of dedicated guys ( including me, but Lemoncat usualy is the quickest). They will also guide you to the right place to download the plane.

But to help you further, what kind of planes do you like?

passenger jets? General aviation? Military stuff? Old planes? There all there and i can point out some interesting ones if you tell me what you like!

Hi Marlin - the main question is always what kind of aircraft does it for you. Soem people like the aircraft you can ride a bike past while others get their kicks out of rolling through the grand canyon at 600kts.
