AI KC-130

What aircraft have you been unable to find after a long search? There may be an answer!

AI KC-130

Postby Colt177521 » Thu Sep 28, 2017 1:00 am

So.... Why isn't there an AI K-C130 Stratotanker available for download? I think it would be the absolute bomb if that were a thing.

So because it's not (As far as I'm aware) I ask that it be made somehow someway. I understand it probably costs money but even you as an aircraft designer find that it would be incredibly useful for long flights considering FSX doesn't consider needing fuel. Because it doesn't, when on an IFR flight anywhere (My preferred method of travel) if I run low on fuel I can't just deviate without cancelling the flight plan itself. So to solve this issue, an AI KC-130 Stratotanker is my suggestion as an answer to this issue. What say ye people of the forums?

I have converted an older one to native FSX AI KC 130.
I could it upload here, if there is an interest.
Nothing special,but it works.

Of course!

Looks great ........ upload it! If it's FSX native it can also open some possible further options!

Well the C-130 and all it's sub variants are called the Hercules, are you looking for a KC-135 "Stratotanker"? If so there is a drogue equipped KC-135T in the downloads. The guys at Military AI Works have a few AI FS9 built drogue and boom Stratotankers that are usable.

Thanks BB, I was going to suggest that one as it has the baskets deployed, was not aware it was converted to FSX native. Very helpful if uploaded for the masses, sir.

As I said, it would be great to see a KC-130 Stratotanker for FSX. Not FSX Acceleration, just plain standard, FSX. Preferably in USAF textures.

Also Bluebear, that would rock.

Hello Colt,
After correcting some small bugs and tests in P3D4,
the AI KC130 package is currently uploaded. ;)

@Bluebear, thanks dude. My only question is how do I request it to show up? Because there's almost nothing helpful in the Readme files except the installation of it :P

@Colt177521

I don't know exactly what you mean,but when you go to your aircraft selection,
you will find under manufacturer Lockheed the "AI KC130 tanker" entry,
which is the flyable version.
Or you will see the AI KC130 tanker as an AI plane when you visit KNPA
airport for example ,assuming you have activated AI traffic and installed everything correctly.

@Bluebear, as far as I'm aware everything has been activated but how do I request the tanker to fill me up while I'm mid flight?

You know.... Like this

Me: *Currently flying running low on fuel*
Oh! I need fuel! *presses buttons so the KC-130 will take off and fill me up so I don't have to deviate from the flight plan*

@Colt177521

Ah, I understand what you're looking for.
Afaik,this has not yet been built by any developer until now,
but indeed, it would be a nice request.
I think you have to follow the tanker in any case and
you can't request it if you need it.
But there is an in flight refueling tool with which one
you can fill up your fuel tanks with any AI plane.
see here In-Flight Refueling Gauge for FSX

@Colt177521

It's been a while, but there is a new great Freeware tool called "PayloadManagerX" by Lorby SI ( http://www.lorby-si.com/downloads.html ),
with wich you can order any AI Plane as an tanker when and wherever you want.
Sadly, as far as i know it works only with P3Dv 4.2/ 4.3 and not with FSX, but perhaps you have changed to P3DV4+ in the meantime.
