How to Swap Gauges ??? How ??

Postby Jetranger » Tue Mar 13, 2012 9:08 am

I have an older propliner aircraft, and it had a few gauges (3), that apparently were from Flight Simulator 98' and I have FSX Gold edition/ Acceleration. according to the FSX Pop up screen says their no longer supported. So, I went to the PANEL Cfg file and edited those trouble-sum gauges out of the command line, and no more pop up menus telling me their NOT supported.  Now is it possible to just copy / paste another line from another Aircrafts panel so the gauges I want will show up, or will I have to go thru the whole XML thing, for which I know nothing about and really don't want to either,, that sort stuff is wayyyy out of my league !! thanks for any response !  :-X :-X Jetranger  :-/

No xml editing needed, just edit the panel.cfg.

Rather than replacing the entire line, simply replace the gauge name in the existing line. This preserves the location and size of the gauge.

gauge.14= oldgaugename, h-position, v-position, h-size, v-size

becomes

gauge.14= newgaugename, h-position, v-position, h-size, v-size

You may have to do some minor tweaking of the position and size values.

If the new gauge's gauge file is found in an aircraft's panel folder, rather than the main Gauges folder, you'll have to copy it to the main Gauges folder so it can be found.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.
