Hello Chums...

Echo Bay. Lake Mead. Nevada.
Airfield ICAO: 0L9.
(Near Las Vegas)

Now my ground textures in FS 2004, Nevada, Arizona, etc, looks like this...>>>

I doubt that the ground actually looks like this in real life for the people in the area, so I'm wondering if anyone has modified the default FS2004 texture to more represent the actual scenery texture/colour in areas like Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, etc?
..toned it down a little, maybe?

Are you sure you aren't flying your plane over a cheetah?  ;D (and you obviously used a shrink ray to shrink your plane.  :D)

Wouldn't this topic be better in the requests forum?

Fozzer,

Here is a mod you can try.

First, make a copy of Scenery\World\texture and store in a safe place in case you want to revert back to the originals.

A little background on .bmp filenames. As an example 002b2su1.bmp.

002= landclass

b= world region b is North America, and also is used for most of the world. c=Southwest USA

2= place holder, they all are "2"

su= season In this case summer, there also is fa=fall, sp=spring, wi=winter and hw=hard winter (snow)

1=variation each class can have up to 7 variations, so this number will be 1-7

We will deal only with the summer textures here.

Looking at this screenshot it appears your red textures are

Wonderful stuff, Joe!... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]...!

That's the sort of thing I'm looking for....

An alternative default texture that I can try out...

The textures shown in my Summer/Fall shots of the Arizona and Nevada Deserts are far too vivid; "Mottled Yellow?"... :o...!

I'll try toning them down using the other textures. Maybe that will remove some of the annoying, default; "mottled" texture!

The 002b2su1.bmp Textures look more easy on the eye... ;)...!

Most/all of my flights occur in the Summer and Autumn, around mid-day, Southern Mid-West U.S, and California.

Thanks for the detailed reply, Joe!

Happy to help.

The red rock textures visible in my screenshot are class 056, and you might find some others around also.
