Excbuilder and Rwy12??

Postby Zaphod » Mon Sep 20, 2010 7:13 am

Hi all.
I don't do a lot of messing with scenery so this may be a dumb question, but I've used Excbuilder V2 to exclude an FS9 building and would like to replace it with a building from Rwy12 but although the Fs9 building goes, I can't get the Rwy12 building to appear in it's place.
Am I to assume that the exclude file doesn't allow anything to appear in the vacated spot?

in rwy12, i assume that you 'created the BGL' for the 'house/building' that you want to install.

take that BGL and put it into your ADDON SCENERY/scenery folder.  (RESTART FLIGHT SIM) and go to that location.  your new building should be there.

excbuilder will not interfere with rwy12 nor any other scenery design program.  (ade, ez-scenery, etc. etc etc)

Hi Cap.
Well the plot thickens.
What I am trying to do is add a hanger to replace what looks like an office block. I am able to remove the office block but when I add the hanger nothing appears. I have checked that I can add the hanger to an empty area of the field in question but it won't show where the old scenery was.

My path for Rwy12 is; C:/ProgramFiles/MicrosoftGames/Flightsimulator9/AddonScenery/StaticObjectsLibrary/Scenery

and my path for Excbuilder, C:/ProgramFiles/Microsoftgames/Flightsimulator9/AddonScenery/Scenery

I have added lots of other bits and pieces to this scenery in the past using rwy12 without any problems but this is the first time I have had to exclude something first.

Zaphod,

If your exclude .bgl is in a folder that has higher priority than the RWY12 generated .bgl the building will not show.

I suggest you create a new folder for your modified airport and add it to the Scenery Library.

Thanks Joe.
I followed your suggestion and although it didn't sort it out it put me on the right path. I actually moved the exclude file into the same file as the Rwy12.bgl (C:/ProgramFiles/MicrosoftGames/Flightsimulator9/AddonScenery/StaticObjectsLibrary/Scenery) and I now have a hanger instead of an office.

Thanks to all.

Well it all proved to be academic as my old computer (see sig.) managed to have a major breakdown and has gone to the great scrap yard in the sky. While I wait for a new PC to be either built or purchased I'm using a borrowed lap top to stay in touch with the outside World.
Looking on the bright side, I may finally get a machine which will run FSX although I suspect I will also stay with FS9. I'm hopeing to be able to retreave some if not all of the old files from the old HD.

Watch this space.
